Abstract

The method involves activating a terminal by a user, and receiving an access message comprising an identifier of the user by a mainframe computer. Global positioning system coordinates are sent by the terminal, and coordinates of participants authorized to know a position of the terminal are received by the terminal via a telecommunication network. Messages pertaining to the position of terminal are received and retransmitted by the computer. The messages are exchanged directly between the terminal and another terminal.

Description

DESCRIPTION The present invention relates to a method and a device for mutual geo-location of GPS receiver terminals. It makes it possible to transform a passive GPS receiver into an active GPS receiver, able to make known its position to other receivers and to know the position of the other receivers. It is for a user (person or object) equipped with a GPS terminal to indicate where it is located to other users and to know the location where each of these users.

The technical device uses and uses the following techniques: - User terminals: equipped with a GPS receiver and connected to a telecommunication network> Processing centers comprising central location and authentication computers. - The user terminals communicate with the central computer via a telecommunications network 20 - The user terminals can communicate with each other via a telecommunications network

Sending and receiving can be done: - continuously allowing mutual localization in continuous and in real time - intermittently: sending / receiving at each time interval defined by the user

35 Les terminaux récepteurs GPS reçoivent les coordonnées GPS des autres utilisateurs directement auprès des autres terminaux GPS ou auprès de l'ordinateur central GPS receiver terminals send their GPS coordinates directly to other GPS terminals or to the central computer. The central computer rebroadcasts the position messages to the users of the system. This distribution is done in compliance with the rules of configuration and security. The position of a terminal can only be communicated to authorized users. 35 GPS receiving terminals receive GPS coordinates from other users directly from other GPS terminals or from the central computer

The return of the position messages received by a terminal can be done according to the use 40 by a display (a map, a map, a marker ...) or for automation purposes for triggering events. The treatment centers will be redundant and distributed to cover specific regions. Figure -1 illustrates the technical architecture and components of the invention.

25 45 2944604 -2- Figure -2- represents an example of an interface that can be displayed on the mobile terminals of subscribers of a group consisting of three users: Alice, Joëlle and Youssef. 25 45 2944604 -2-

On Youssef's screen, the three points J, A, Y represent the positions of Joelle (J) and Alice (A) in relation to the position of Youssef (Y). The representation shows the North as well as the scale of representation to be able to estimate the distances.

Figure -3- shows an example of an interface for displaying the distribution of users of the same group on a given map.
