Abstract

The seat i.e. armchair (10), has a base (14) including a base surface (22) provided with a front edge (24), and a backrest (16) including a support surface (26) with a lower edge (28) that is placed adjacent to the surface (22). An adjusting unit adjusts relative positions of the backrest and the base to adjust a distance (D) between the edges. The adjusting unit assembles the backrest on the base in two positions longitudinally offset with respect to the base.
