Description
DOMAINE TECHNIQUE GENERAL La présente invention concerne une tête deGENERAL TECHNICAL FIELD The present invention relates to a head of
2 active monitoring of an environment, comprising: an emission block of an illumination beam capable of scanning an area of the environment; and a block for receiving a radiation received in return. It also relates to a monitoring system comprising the aforementioned head and a method for implementing the head and the system. PRIOR ART The function of an active standby head is to detect scattering objects and / or particular points of an environment with a high backscattering coefficient. Objects or points are characterized by their high SEL (Laser Equivalent Area). Thus, one of the aims of an active watchdog is to detect, for example, pointed optics belonging to aircraft or projectiles threatening a carrier, so that the carrier can evade them, for example, or implement countermeasures. . For this purpose, the known active standby heads comprise a housing mounted on a carrier, a transmission block of an illumination beam of the pointed optics and a reception block of a radiation received in return. In general, the transmission block is movable relative to the housing, and is adapted to allow the scanning site and deposit of an environment to monitor. The illumination beam is preferably little divergent (covering for example an angular sector of the environment typically of the order of 3 × 3), so that the energy per unit of solid angle is very important, which ensures a large beam reach in the environment. The receiving block is also generally movable relative to the housing and follows the emission block in its scanning site and field. Such a head, however, has disadvantages. Firstly, the inertia of the transmission block and the reception block penalizes the rate of analysis of the field of view and consequently the early detection of the pointed optics. 2
Then, because of the mobile nature of the receiving block, the angular position of the receiving block with respect to the housing is not precisely known. This inaccuracy in the angular position of the receiving block may cause an error in the estimation of the position of the detected dotted optics, and therefore may render the countermeasures less efficient. PRESENTATION OF THE INVENTION The invention proposes to overcome at least one of these disadvantages. For this purpose, according to the invention, there is provided an active standby head of an environment, comprising: an emission block of an illumination beam able to scan an area of the environment; and - a reception block of a radiation received in return; characterized in that: the reception block comprises at least one fixed detector. The invention is advantageously completed by the following features, taken alone or in any of their technically possible combination: each detector comprises a detection matrix, able to be illuminated on a part by the received radiation, and is adapted to: - define a detection window around the illuminated part of the matrix, and - move said window to follow a displacement of the illuminated part of the matrix; each detector further comprises a synchronizer able to synchronize the triggering of the integration periods of the radiation received in return with respect to the emission pulses of the illumination beam; The transmission block comprises an optical block comprising an actuator capable of enabling the environment to be scanned by the illumination beam; 3
Dans le cas de projectiles à SEL modulable par exemple, il est possible, grâce à d'une part 4 the actuator can be controlled to vary the scanning speed with which the illumination beam sweeps the area of the environment; the optical block comprises at least one movable element and connected to the actuator, the actuator being adapted to move said element, possibly with a variable speed of displacement; the optical block comprises a device for shaping the illumination beam; the head comprises a correlator able to correlate, on the one hand, a detection signal coming from the detector illuminated by the radiation received during the scanning, on the other hand a signal coming from the detector not illuminated by the radiation received; and the scanning is carried out along an axis corresponding, for example, to the deposit of the environment. The invention also relates to a monitoring system comprising the aforesaid head and a method for implementing the head and the system. The invention has many advantages. The detection frequency by the reception block is important, namely the order of magnitude of the illumination pulsation frequency. Because of the fixed position of the detectors, in particular with respect to a support piece or to a possible casing, the angular detection accuracy is improved compared to the prior art. In addition, only a scan in the field, limited to the illumination beam, is necessary, which is easily technically feasible. The system is fast, and inexpensive. The scanning speed in the field is moreover adjustable. The ability to adjust the sweep rate allows a user of the sleep head to tailor said sweep speed to the type of threat. If the threat is represented by projectiles having a low rate of scrolling, the slew rate may be relatively low. The scanning speed may be faster if the projectile has a higher rate of scrolling in the field. In the case of projectiles with adjustable SEL for example, it is possible, thanks to a part 4
La source 22 est très avantageusement pulsée et sera décrite plus en détails dans la suite de la présente description. a scanning speed in appropriate bearing and secondly a high detection frequency, to obtain a number of information related to the pointed optics sufficient to distinguish the modulation of said SEL. In the case of unmodulated SELs, the number of information can be reduced to increase the rate of environmental refresh by the detectors. PRESENTATION OF THE FIGURES Other characteristics, objects and advantages of the invention will emerge from the description which follows, which is purely illustrative and nonlimiting, and which should be read with reference to the appended drawings, in which: FIG. 1 shows schematically a system comprising a standby head according to the invention; FIG. 2 diagrammatically represents a perspective view of a transmission block and a reception block according to the invention; FIG. 3 diagrammatically represents the principle of scanning in a block in a block according to FIG. 2; - Figures 4 and 5 show schematically a receiving block according to the invention, preferably comprising a plurality of detectors; FIG. 6 diagrammatically represents the principle of defining a detection window around an illuminated part of a detection matrix of a detector of a head according to the invention. In all the figures, similar elements bear identical reference numerals. DETAILED DESCRIPTION FIG. 1 schematically shows an active standby head 1 of an environment in a site and in a field. Remember that the site is one of the vertical coordinates. The site corresponds to the angle of the half-line passing through the head 1 and directed towards the object identified, with its projection on the horizontal plane passing through the head 1. This angle is counted positively when the object identified is above the indicated horizontal plane, negatively in the opposite case. The deposit is the angle of two half-planes limited by the vertical of the head 1, one being directed towards the object identified and the other being a specified vertical half-plane of reference, the positive direction rotation is most often that of the needles of a watch. The standby head 1 is mounted on a housing 2, the housing being for example integral with a carrier. The housing 2 comprises an electronic assembly 21, an illumination source 22 and a control station 23, connected to each other and to the head 1. The electronic assembly 21 comprises all the electronic control and processing cards. These elements are known in themselves by those skilled in the art and are not described in detail in the following description. The source 22 also includes an optical bench for providing the illumination beam. The source 22 is very advantageously pulsed and will be described in more detail later in this description.
The control station 23 mainly comprises dialogue devices with an external system and / or an operator, for controlling the assembly 21, the source 22 and the head 1, as well as viewing devices of the environment. The control station 23 will be described in more detail later in this description.
The head 1 may comprise a housing 10 fixed relative to the housing 2, and comprises an emission block 11 of an illumination beam 63, the beam 63 being able to scan an area of the environment, according to at least one axis, and a receiving block 12 of a received radiation 84 in return. The head also comprises a support piece 14 intended to form a support for the receiving block 12. Preferably, the support piece 14 is fixed relative to the housing 2, and fixed relative to the housing 10 when the head comprises a. In the remainder of the present description, a scan axis corresponding to the bearing of the head is taken as a nonlimiting example.
La distance entre le bloc 11 et le bloc 6 The reception block 12 is very preferably located near the transmission block 11, to minimize the out-of-axis effect of received radiation backscattered by a pointed optic. The distance between block 11 and block 6
12 is for example less than 0.5 times the diffraction lobe of the pointed optic. As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the transmission block 11 comprises a shaping device adapted to shape the illumination beam 63, for example in the form of an illumination rectangle of the environment. The rectangle can have an angular coverage of 3 × 3 for example. The fact that the size of the rectangle is relatively small compared to the field of standby allows a large range of the beam; because the latter is related to the illumination energy per unit of solid angle. The sweep in the beam 63 beam can explore a panoramic angular sector or not, for example of the order of 90. As shown in FIGS. 2, 4 and 5, the reception block 12 comprises at least one fixed detector 7. The detector is thus fixed relative to the housing 10 and / or relative to the support piece 14 for example. The number of detectors 7 can be arbitrary and depends on the field of detection of each detector 7 in relation to the total angular sector of the environment to be monitored. With detectors 7 that can cover, for example, a field 15 in the field, the receiving block 12 comprises six detectors 7 whose contiguous fields cover the desired total angular sector in the field, ie, for example 90. An example of the known detector site coverage value is of the order of 18. In order to optimize the photometric balance, the number of openings is small.
The detectors 7 can be of any type, but are for example of the CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor) type. In this case, they comprise a detection matrix 75 (visible in FIG. 6) comprising a very large number of pixels, read at a rate of 1 kHz, for example. The detectors 7 are preferably rendered monochrome by filtering and of large size. All pixels in the array integrate the optical stream at the same time. The division of the sector into smaller elementary fields makes it possible to use a particularly narrow passband optical filter (approximately 7 nm) on the reception channel, which is very favorable for the rejection of the solar flux, which rejection is essential. for consistent, high-range detection performance day and night, and in sunny and overcast conditions.
Le fenêtrage permet de réaliser l'intégration 8 The source 22 is preferably pulsed. Each detector 7 furthermore comprises a synchronizer 77 (visible in FIG. 6) able to synchronize, on the one hand, the triggering of the integration periods of the radiation received in return 84 by the matrix 75, on the other hand the pulsations of emission of the illumination source 22. It is preferable to have a high received radiation detection frequency to obtain a high performance standby head 1. For this purpose, the synchronizer 77 makes it possible to obtain a detection of the received radiation 84 synchronized with the emission of the illumination beam 63. The pulsation frequency of the source 22 is preferably of the order of kHz (for example 1 kHz ), and the detection frequency is also in the kHz range. The source 22 can be arbitrary and emit a beam on visible or infrared domains. The source 22 can also emit several different wavelengths simultaneously. The detectors are then of course capable of detecting the different wavelengths. In particular, it is desired to be able to detect at a visible bandwidth. This wavelength makes it possible to use the extremely common silicon-based detectors 7 mentioned above. However, the use of such detectors for active sleep applications requires synchronous integration of all the pixels of the array 75 into the detection zone. Since the detection matrix 75 of the detector 7 is large but is only illuminated at a portion 76 by the received radiation 84, each detector is adapted to define a detection window 72 around the illuminated portion 76 of FIG. the matrix 75 and to optionally move said window 72 to follow a movement of the illuminated portion 76 of the matrix 75. It is said that the detector is windowable. Windowing allows for integration 8
Le bloc optique 4 permet d'adapter la divergence du faisceau issu de la source 22. pixels of the window 72 at the frequency of the source 22, of the order of kHz. In other words, the fact of using only a part of the pixels included in the detection window 72 around the illuminated portion 76 of the matrix 75, allows the integration of the optical flux, by the detector 7, on said portion of the pixels, and at a frequency compatible with the pulse frequency of the source 22. Each detector is capable of moving the detection window 72 so that the illuminated portion 76 is always located in the detection window 72. Advantageously, the definition and the displacement of the detection window 72 are controlled by the synchronizer 77. Very preferably, the illumination source 22 is a laser-type source. The laser source emits a beam, for example in visible band, with a diameter of the order of 15 mm and with a divergence of less than 0.8 mrad, for an average power ranging from 3 to 50 watts. The source 22 comprises a pump laser, for example of Nd: YLF type, pumped by diodes and cooled by a circulation of water. The choice of YLF, as host matrix, makes it possible to obtain optimized performances for a pulse frequency of the order of kHz. The scan frequency of the total sector in the field (also referred to as the refresh rate) may vary from about 1 Hertz to several tens of Hertz. The pulsation frequency of the laser can advantageously, depending on the scanning speed, allow recovery between the successive zones of analysis. It is understood that the size of the illumination beam 63 also plays a role in the value of the recovery rate. The slew sweep speed and the beam size 63 are adjustable, as explained below. As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the transmission block 11 comprises an optical block 4 comprising an actuator 43 able to allow the scanning of the bearing environment by the illumination beam. The actuator 43 is controllable to vary the scanning speed with which the illumination beam sweeps the bearing environment. The optical block 4 makes it possible to adapt the divergence of the beam coming from the source 22.
The actuator 43 can actuate several types of devices to enable the scanning of the environment area by the illumination beam. However, advantageously, the optical unit 4 comprises at least one movable element 41, for example with respect to the housing 10 and / or the support part 14, transversely to the optical axis 44 of the optical unit 4 as shown by the arrow 410. The element 41 is connected to the actuator 43 which is adapted to move the element 41 to carry out the sweep in the bearing by the strip 63 according to the arrow 411. The element 41 can thus rotate in a 360 direction for example . Four reception blocks, each covering a sector of 90, can thus be arranged to provide a panoramic view of the environment. A site orientation of the element 41 can also be envisaged. The element 41 may be for example a prism, a mirror, or any other reflecting means for performing an optical return. The shaping device 42 makes it possible in particular to slightly vary the size and / or the shape of the beam 63. The opto-mechanical design of the standby head is simple. The element 41 is of small size, and therefore easily displaceable, especially on a continuous rotation in the field. The head advantageously comprises a correlator 45 capable of correlating, on the one hand, a detection signal coming from the detector 7 illuminated by the received radiation 84 during the scanning, on the other hand a signal coming from the detector not illuminated by the radiation received. It is thus possible to obtain statistical information on the environment (signal from the unenlightened detector), which further improves the processing of information from the illuminated detector. For example, the distinction between a threat (which appears only when the detector is illuminated by the received radiation) and the sun (which also appears when the detector is not illuminated by the radiation received) can be improved, for example, and thus reduce the false alarm rate. As shown in Figure 2, the laser source 22 emits a beam 61, for example vertically to the transmission block 11 and placed above the housing 2, at a height of about 2.5 meters. For reasons of safety and to avoid any dispersion of the beam, a tube 220 surrounds the beam 61 coming from the source 22. The beam 61 arrives on the deflection element 41 which makes it possible to send a beam 62 directed for example to 90 relative to the beam 61. The beam 62 then enters the forming device 42. The beam 63 at the output of the shaping device is sent to the environment. As shown in Figure 1, the system comprising a standby head according to the invention also comprises a dimmer 25 for varying the illumination energy of the source 22 during the scanning beam of the illumination beam. The drive 25 is advantageously part of the control station 23. It can thus be taken into account, during scanning, the proximity of eg a friendly carrier that we do not want to blind by the illumination beam. In general, the illumination power can be varied according to the position of the illuminated area, in order to take account of operational conditions of use of the system. The field in site of the detectors, equal for example to 18, corresponds to a field compatible with an application to the maritime domain, in particular to compensate part of the movements of a building during navigation. The arrangement of the detectors is imposed by the geometry of the windowing of the type of sensors used. Other configurations are of course possible depending on the sensors and their windowing possibilities.
The preceding developments provide for a scan along an axis corresponding to the bearing of the head. The axis can have any direction, during a peak following, for example. It is understood that the scanning can also be performed in site.
