Abstract

The method involves changing a fraction of total volume of watery liquid e.g. salt water, in a saline cavity e.g. underground cavern, by a gas e.g. air, volume so that an assembly`s compressibility ensures that a cavity`s internal pressure is lower than a lithostatic pressure, and the thermal equilibrium between the liquid and environmental solid/terrain is not attained. An opening of the cavity is blocked. The cavity`s internal pressure is monitored during injection of the gas for interrupting the injection if the pressure attains a predetermined value.
