Description
The present invention relates to a method and an installation for the purification of wastewater, in particular of urban or industrial waste water.
It is known that the treatment of wastewater is largely based on activated sludge processes which are based on the principle of placing heterotrophic bacteria under optimum conditions so that they consume the biodegradable organic matter contained in the water.
The treatment of urban or industrial wastewater by the activated sludge process consists essentially of a biological water treatment step during which the organic matter contained in the water is degraded by microorganisms by producing sludge and a water separation stage. sludge, the sludge leaving the separation stage being recycled in the biological treatment stage. However, this process has the disadvantage of producing large quantities of excess sludge, whose final destination poses environmental problems.
In order to significantly reduce the quantities of sludge produced by a biological treatment system, the document FR 2766813 teaches to couple an ozonation treatment with a mechanical treatment of a portion of the sludge resulting from the biological treatment.
However, this method has the disadvantage of using ozone whose implementation is expensive and delicate.
The Applicant has now developed a sewage treatment process to solve the aforementioned problems. In addition, the implementation of the method is simple.
The method, according to the present invention, comprises a biological treatment stage of urban or industrial waste water during which the organic matter contained in the water is degraded by microorganisms by producing activated sludge and a decantation stage characterized by some or all of the sludge at the exit of the decantation step, intended to be recycled to the biological treatment stage is brought into contact with hydrogen peroxide.
The amount of hydrogen peroxide involved is preferably between 20 and 200 milligrams per liter of wastewater to be treated, and advantageously between 30 and 100 milligrams per liter of wastewater to be treated.
The hydrogen peroxide used may be in the form of an aqueous solution, preferably of concentration of between 20 and 70% by weight and advantageously of between 35 and 50% by weight. The water treatment plant generally comprises at least one biological treatment reactor receiving raw water loaded with organic matter that is degraded by microorganisms by producing sludge and a solid / liquid separator which receives the wastewater from the plant. biological reactor and which ensures the separation of water sludge, a recycling loop to return to the biological reactor at least a portion of the sludge thus separated.
The plant according to the present invention is characterized in that it comprises at least one means for injecting hydrogen peroxide into the recycling loop. Preferably, the hydrogen peroxide is injected into the loop for recycling activated sludge.
PARTIE EXPERIMENTALEThe implementation of the method according to the present invention is simple and moreover does not require any particular activation step. In addition, this implementation is possible without major modification of the current processing facilities. The process according to the present invention also makes it possible to improve the sludge index (that is to say, their settling ability) and offers the advantage of not generating any toxic byproduct. In addition, the preferred concentrations of hydrogen peroxide and its by-products have no biocidal effect on the bacteria. EXPERIMENTAL PART
The single figure is a schematic view of an embodiment of a wastewater treatment plant implementing the method according to the present invention. It comprises a raw water inlet (1), a 2200 liter aeration basin (2) in which the organic matter contained in the raw water is degraded by microorganisms by producing sludge, a decanter / clarifier (3) 900 liters which receives the waste water from the aeration basin and which separates the water from the sludge, a treated water outlet (4) which collects the water at the outlet of the clarifier (3) and a loop recirculation (5) which brings a portion of the sludge from the clarifier (3) to the head of the pond (2), the rest being withdrawn (7) from the facility for subsequent treatment. The recirculation loop is provided with an injection device (6) for a solution of hydrogen peroxide.
Le bassin (2) est alimenté en continu par de l'eau brute (1 ) ayant les caractéristiques suivantes : débit d'alimentation : 41 litres/heureThe pond (2) is fed continuously with raw water (1) having the following characteristics: feed rate: 41 liters / hour
COD ( carbone organique dissous ) : 395 mg/l DCO ( demande chimique en oxygène ) : 1040 mg/lDOC (dissolved organic carbon): 395 mg / l COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand): 1040 mg / l
L'eau traitée recueillie en (4) a les caractéristiques suivantes :An aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide concentration 35% by weight is injected continuously during the recirculation periods, with a flow rate of 50 milligrams of hydrogen peroxide per liter of raw water, in (6) in the loop of recirculation. The recirculation of activated sludge consists of alternations of 40 minutes at 270 l / h and 35 minutes of stopping. After 4 weeks of operation, the average production of sludge is 134 g MES / day to maintain a content of 3.5 g / l MES in the basin. The sludge index (volume occupied by 1 gram of sludge after thirty minutes of settling) is 100 ml / g. The treated water collected in (4) has the following characteristics:
COD : < 10 mg/lCOD: <10 mg / l
MES : < 10 mg/lMES: <10 mg / l
Les caractéristiques de l'eau traitée sont :In the absence of treatment with hydrogen peroxide, the production of sludge is 223 g MES / day to maintain a content of 3.5 g / l MES in the basin. The sludge index is 500 ml / g. The characteristics of the treated water are:
COD : < 10 mg/lCOD: <10 mg / l
MES : < 10 mg/lMES: <10 mg / l
If the injection of hydrogen peroxide is carried out in the aeration basin and not in the recirculation loop, the sludge production, the mud index and the characteristics of the treated water are substantially equivalent to those obtained in the absence of hydrogen peroxide treatment.
