Abstract

Organophillic granular clay products are claimed for irreversible adsorption of environmental organic liquid pollutants that can not be extracted by mechanical action or by percolating/leaching with water, where: the granular product is preserved after saturation and water permeability; and the pollutants have the ability to be biodegraded. An independent claim is included for a preparation of the product: using primary, secondary, tertiary or quaternary amino salt having at least a radical of 12-22 carbon atom; or using clay of illite group having a cation exchange capacity of 25-45 mEq/100 g.
