Bielles pour moteur à combustion interne et moteur combustion interneConnecting rods for internal combustion engine and internal combustion engine
The invention relates to the field of thermal engines, including thermal engines for motor vehicles. More specifically, the invention relates to a new type of connecting rods particularly suitable for engine architectures according to which the cylinders are arranged in two parallel banks, on either side of a plane of symmetry of the crankshaft. An internal combustion engine comprises at least one cylinder in which a piston moves back and forth. This reciprocating rectilinear motion is transformed into a rotary motion by means of a connecting rod and a crankshaft. More specifically, the crankshaft comprises journals carried by bearings and crank pins on which are rotated the small ends. The axis of the cylinder must be arranged perpendicular to the shaft line defined by the centers of the bearings carrying the pins. If the engine has several cylinders, which is particularly the case for motor vehicles, they must be arranged relative to each other to preserve this alignment. The simplest case is that of an online layout In this case, a crankpin is associated with each rod. With such an architecture in line, the length of the motor increases with the number of cylinders. Therefore, when the available volume is limited, the increase in the number of cylinders can be achieved by maintaining a relatively short engine length by arranging the cylinders along two parallel banks, flat or forming with the shaft line. a V, spaced at an angle, for example 60 or 90. In this case, the rods of two cylinders facing each other are located on the same crank pin. The rods are placed side by side, so the two banks must be somewhat offset. As a result, the total length of the engine is not exactly halved and with identical displacements, a V-6 engine has a length greater than that of a homologous engine having a number of cylinders reduced by half , while the width of the engine is more than doubled, resulting in a much larger total footprint. However, apart from the engine itself, the engine compartment must also accommodate a large number of accessories whose number tends to multiply with modern vehicles, such as power steering, air conditioning or the chain of Hybrid electric traction / thermal engine. In addition, to minimize the danger of a shock with a pedestrian, an empty area must be preserved between the hood and the various solid elements such as the engine. It would thus be desirable to reduce the size of an engine whose cylinders are arranged in V. According to the invention, this object is achieved by the use of connecting rods which make it possible to dispose the opposed cylinders according to the invention. the same plane so that the longitudinal size of the engine is reduced. According to a first aspect, the invention thus relates to a connecting rod, including a connecting rod for a heat engine, comprising a body, a foot forming a bearing for a piston pin and a head forming a bearing for a crankpin crankpin and having a recess dug in the thickness of the head. Two connecting rods can thus be associated so that the peripheral surface of a connecting rod head associated with a first cylinder comes to bear on the peripheral surface of a connecting rod end associated with an opposite cylinder, thus forming a set Composite similar to a hybrid rod with two half-heads and two independent feet. According to a second aspect, the invention also relates to a heat engine equipped with rods according to the invention, and more specifically a heat engine whose engine block comprises two banks of two or more cylinders, arranged flat or in V, the rectilinear reciprocating movement of the pistons guided in the cylinders being transmitted by means of connecting rods to a crankshaft, the rods of two pistons facing each other being associated with a common crankpin, each crankshaft having a recess dug in its thickness, so that the two rods overlap at the common crankpin. Other features and advantageous details of the invention are set forth in the description given below with reference to the accompanying drawings. Figure 1 is a general perspective view of a rod according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention. Figure 2 shows, in side view, the connecting rod of Figure 1. [0014] Figure 3 is a general perspective view of a set of two connecting rods according to the invention associated. FIG. 4 is an isometric perspective showing the set of two heads illustrated in FIG. 3 mounted on a crankshaft of an 8-cylinder V engine. FIG. 5 is a diagram of a crankshaft with two rods offset by crank pin, according to the prior art. Figure 6 is a diagram showing the position of the cylinders of the same bench for mounting with the crankshaft shown in Figure 5. [0018] Figure 7 is a diagram similar to the diagram of Figure 5, but with this time connecting rods according to the invention. Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a rod according to one embodiment of the invention, particularly suitable for heat engines such as internal combustion engines of motor vehicles. The rod comprises conventionally a body 1, substantially oblong and two ends forming bearings. By convention, the end of the rod intended to receive a hinge axis of a piston is called the small end 2, and the opposite end, intended to receive the crank pin of a crankshaft, the connecting rod 3 According to the invention, the connecting rod head 3 comprises a notch 4 so that the inner peripheral wall 5 of the connecting rod head (by convention, we will later designate on the inner side, the side facing the notch and external, the opposite face) is essentially in the transverse median plane of the connecting rod body 1. In the case represented here, and as it is more particularly visible on the side view proposed in FIG. outer peripheral wall 6 of the connecting rod head is essentially in the extension of the small end, the body 1 is for its part slightly thinner; the outer wall of the body being in the extension of the median plane of the connecting rod head as illustrated by the arrows AA. Those skilled in the art will readily understand that this is an alternative embodiment and that it is particularly appropriate to adapt on a case by case basis. Advantageously, the inner peripheral wall 5 of the connecting rod head receives an anti-friction treatment. Without these examples being considered as limiting, this treatment is for example a hard chromium plating, a nitriding or a carbon deposit, that is to say treatments compatible with steel parts. The foot 2 and the head 3 are provided with holes 7 and 8 to lubricate the bearings. Note that these holes are particularly useful in the case of piston pins mounted floating with legs of connecting rods as in the case shown here. On the other hand, if the piston pin is mounted tightly in the small end, it is not normally provided with lubrication means at this level. In addition, a bore 9 allows lubrication of the inner peripheral wall 5 of the big end. The notch at the end of the connecting rod allows to associate two rods two by two without offset, as shown in Figure 3. In Figure 3 are shown two connecting rods according to the invention placed end to end. Compared to a conventional combustion engine connecting rod, the cone head appears constituted by all of the two half-heads of each connecting rod, forming a hybrid assembly with a head and two feet. More importantly, the median plane of this hybrid assembly passes through the contact surface of the inner peripheral walls of the two connecting rods, that is to say the two rods can be associated on the same crank pin without any offset associated pistons as shown in Figure 4 where has represented, according to an isometric perspective, a set of two connecting rods according to the invention, mounted on a common crank pin overlapping each other, for an 8-cylinder V-shaped engine. The advantage of this arrangement is more particularly apparent from the comparative calculations. facts below. Consider a motor consisting of eight cylinders, arranged in V with an angle of 90, assuming that the cylinders are cast iron, not jacketed, and a bore of 90mm. Figure 5 is the diagram of the crankshaft illustrating the size of the different elements. By arranging the cylinders according to a conventional architecture with two rods offset on the same crankpin and a flat crankshaft, it is easily calculated from the crankshaft diagram of FIG. 5, that if each connecting rod has a thickness of 25 mm, 15 mm arms and if the crankshaft journals have a width of 30 mm, then the spacing between cylinders must be 110 mm, which leads to an interference of 20 mm as shown in the diagram of Figure 5. Either for each bank of 4 cylinders a total length of 530 mm from point A to point B taking into account the end trunnions. As shown in Figure 6, using connecting rods according to the invention and by increasing the width of the trunnions to 40 mm, the spacing between cylinders can be reduced to 95mm (the increase of the width of the trunnions is necessary, the cylinders can not overlap or even touch each other, minimum interference must be imposed, even if only for feasibility issues at the cast of the engine block) which brings the total length of point A to point B to 490 mm (assuming end trunnions also 40 mm long, a gain of 20 mm can still be achieved if the ends of trunnions are only 30 mm long.) [0030] Not only the motor is less cumbersome but the reduction of the interfering allows gains of material and thus a reduction of the costs of foundry.
