Abstract

Preparation of a polymeric film having ionic groups in which the cation is proton, monovalent-, divalent- or trivalent metal ions and organic ions such as ammonium, imidazolium, pyrazolium, tetrazolium, pyridinium or guanidinium, comprises: extrusion of a material comprising polymers comprising recurrent units of aromatic groups (AG) and functional groups (FG) and polymers carrying reagent groups (RG) allowing the grafting of ionic groups; and chemical reaction of the extruded material to graft ionic groups. An independent claim is included for a film obtained by the process, comprising of repeating units (AG, FG), and ionic groups.
