The reheating of a metal billet (10) to retain it in a semi-solid state, by surrounding the billet with an electric induction coil (100), comprises : (A) establishing a consigned temperature profile as a function of time at a given point; (B) deducing a law (g(t)) for feeding electricity to the coil; (C) equally deducing the distribution of temperature to all points of the billet, at each instant.
