Abstract

Manufacture of fine cardboard (A) or analogue comprises adding at least a primary retention agent (I) comprising a cationic (co)polymer to the fibrous suspension; optionally removing the floating obtained; and adding at least a secondary retention agent (II) (silica derivatives and cross-linked anionic polymers) and at least a tertiary retention agent (III) (different from (II)) to the suspension. Manufacture of fine cardboard (A) or analogue comprises adding at least a primary retention agent (I) comprising a cationic (co)polymer to the fibrous suspension; optionally removing the floating obtained; and adding at least a secondary retention agent (II) (silica derivatives and cross-linked anionic polymers) and at least a tertiary retention agent (III) (different from (II)) to the suspension (where (III) is constituted by a cross-linked organic anionic polymer of size higher or equal to 1 micron and having a intrinsic viscosity lower than 3 dl/g). Independent claims are also included for: (1) tertiary retention agent comprising a cross-linked anionic organic polymer of size higher or equal to 1 micron with an intrinsic viscosity of lower than 3 dl/g; and (2) use of a cross-linked anionic organic polymer (having a size higher or equal to 1 micron with an intrinsic viscosity lower than 3 dl/g) as (III) in a manufacturing process of paper, cardboard or analogues.
