The present invention relates to the field of building and public works and, more particularly, to a crown for diamond drilling for drilling passages in buildings, buildings and public works. The drill bit which constitutes a tubular drill makes it possible in particular to drill concrete and other construction materials.
There is already known a crown for diamond drilling which comprises a cylindrical body connected by welding, at a first end, to a cylindrical head whose free edge is provided with diamond segments. By diamond segments is meant in the present specification also a continuous diamond ring, the diamond segments not being in the form of teeth. A diamond segment, unlike a carbide tooth, attacks the material to be perforated along a contact surface, while a tooth attacks at its end along a contact line with chip removal. This one is an abrasive tool, while this one is a cutting tool. The cylindrical head comprises, at the other end, a connection means 20 to a device for driving in rotation in a direction and applying an axial force. The outer and inner surfaces of the body and the head are aligned respectively so as to form smooth walls. To drill a passage in a concrete wall, the crown is rotated and moved along its axis so that the diamond segments 25 attack the wall and cut a core therein which can come out of the body and the cylindrical head , without difficulty, since their inner wall is smooth, the crown itself can also exit without difficulty from the wall, since the outer walls of the body and of the head are smooth.
When the diamond segments are worn, another 30 crown must be taken for drilling. It has already been proposed to desolder by heating a worn cylindrical head and to weld to the body a new cylindrical head provided with new diamond segments. This welding operation is not usually done on the site itself, since it would be necessary to have a welding station and qualified personnel for this operation, especially since it is necessary to ensure that the walls remain well smooth. This results in a considerable loss of time and an unprofitable immobilization of the crown for diamond drilling and of the machine which drives it.
The invention overcomes these drawbacks with a crown for diamond drilling, the worn head of which can be replaced by simpler operations, taking less time and which can even be carried out on site, while obtaining a penetration speed. as good as so far ..
According to the invention, the head is screwed to the body in the same direction of screwing in the direction of rotation, the thread of one of the body or of the head 10 being cut in its wall thickness, the depth, ie ie the diameter on the sides as defined by the ISO thread standard, of the thread representing between 1/4 and 1/6 of the thickness of the wall.
As the head is screwed to the body, just unscrew it and screw a new head to replace a worn head. As the thread of one of the body or of the head is cut in its thickness, we keep, despite the screwing, smooth walls both inside and outside. As the wall remains thin, the crown can still penetrate well without much effort. But despite the small depth of the thread and although this depth goes against the ISO standard of the same thickness, neither breakage nor unscrewing takes place, because the efforts of a crown with diamond segments which attacks by abrasion are not of the same nature as if there were teeth with removal of shavings. This type of pitch (or thread) has, for this application, the advantages of a shallow depth of the bottom of the thread, which makes it possible to retain a thin wall to limit the resistance to penetration of the tool during drilling and d '' increase the number of turns in order to considerably strengthen the resistance of the head / body assembly. Unexpectedly, it turns out that it is possible, in this particular case, to violate the standard, without making the screwing ineffective and fragile, with the determining advantage of retaining a thin wall necessary for obtaining 30 d '' a good penetration speed identical to the one-piece crowns already known.
By the same screwing direction is meant that the head is screwed in a clockwise direction and that the direction of rotation is that of a clockwise. These two movements can also be given together in a counterclockwise direction.
Preferably, the wall of the body or of the head has a thickness of between 2 mm and 5 mm, preferably between 2 and 3 mm, which is all the greater the larger the core diameter, which makes it possible not to have a high resistance to penetration and thus a short drilling time.
Preferably, the outside diameter of the body is greater than 45 mm, preferably 50 mm, and less than or equal to 300 mm. It has been found that through the use of diamond segments which attack by pure abrasion due to friction, without removing shavings like teeth would, relatively large diameters can be made as needed for the building and public works, because the thread is thus less subjected to constraints and one can also adapt a thread which it is possible to carry out in thin walls as are necessarily those of the body of large diameter welded longitudinally.
According to a preferred embodiment, the head comprises unscrewing means and according to an entirely decisive embodiment for putting it into practice on site, the unscrewing means comprise two diametrically opposite holes made in the head. The manufacture of the crown for drilling thus improved is very simple and it suffices to unscrew the head on the site to introduce a bar in the two holes and to use it to unscrew the head with a lever arm. This reduction in force is necessary because, very often, after a fairly long use, the head is difficult to unscrew from the body.
The invention also relates to a method for replacing a head of a crown for diamond drilling which consists in using a crown for diamond drilling according to the invention, to unscrew the head by putting a bar in the two diametrically opposite holes, formed in the head and applying a torque to the head using the bar and screwing a new head onto the cylindrical body.
The single figure of the accompanying drawing illustrates the invention.
The crown for diamond drilling shown in FIG. 1 is, with the exception of diamond segments, of resistant metal. It comprises a cylindrical body 1 with a wall thickness of 2 mm and a diameter of 120 mm, connected at one end to a cylindrical head 2 of the same diameter, the free edge of which is provided with segments 3 diamond-coated by welding.
The cylindrical body 1 has at the other end a closing flange 4 rigidly connected to a tenon 5 with a hexagon intended to penetrate the end of a drive shaft which is not shown and which is intended to drive in rotate the crown for drilling in one direction and apply an axial force to it.
While the head 2 is generally with a smooth wall, the end of the head 2 opposite the diamond segments 3 has a threaded part 6 with a depth of 0.5 mm (1/4 of the 2 mm thickness) , intended to be screwed into a tapped part 7 of the same depth provided at the opposite end of the body 1 which for the rest is also smooth. The threaded part 7 is cut in the thickness of the side wall of the body 1. The screwing direction is the same as the direction of rotation. They both have one step to the right.
La tête 2 comporte deux trous 8, diamétralement opposés. The head 2 has two diametrically opposite holes 8.
To replace a worn head 2, it is unscrewed with the help of a bar threaded into the two holes 8 and a new head 2 is screwed into the body 1, in the direction of the arrow.
