Abstract

The material to be placed at the foot of plants, as a pesticide and fertilizer, has a center opening (1) of 3 cm diameter, and a cut-out (2) to slide at the plant foot. It is derived from comfrey hispid herbs and stinging nettles, which are dried and converted into granules, softened with oil and a cellulose composition, to be filtered and hot pressed in an embossing mold.

Description

ii

The present invention relates to a device intended to be installed at the base of plants in order to prevent the growth of weeds while providing the plant with fertilizing elements by degrading and reducing the effects of soil evaporation.

A known principle is the production of a kind of coconut-based felt which is installed at the foot of the plants to prevent the growth of weeds, but this principle does not provide any fertilizing element.

A second known principle is mulching (the spreading of organic matter at the feet of plants in order to prevent unwanted growth of plants and to retain soil moisture).

A third known principle is the spreading of pine bark chips. A fourth known principle is plastic filming.

The disadvantages of these techniques are that either they do not provide any fertilizing element, or that the organic matter used is characterized by a very high C / N ratio, therefore very little assimilable and using nitrogen from the soil in order to promote their own degradation, this resulting in a loss of nutrients useful for plant development.

The present invention relates to a device made from Symphytumn (Grande Comfrey) or Urtica dioica (nettle) to overcome the above drawbacks.

According to the invention, the Symphytum or Urtica dioica is harvested by the usual densiling processes (pre-haulage-grinding or cutting-grinding), dehydrated by a thermal process until the humidity is below 15%, and then granulated by a mechanical process in plugs 0.8 cm in diameter and 6 cm maximum in length. These granules are then transferred to a tank, wetted with water, at a rate of maximum 250 kg for a tonne of water, mechanically kneaded for at least 3 hours to allow the material to rehydrate. Then 50 kg of corn flour and 2 liters of oil are added and the mixing is extended for one hour.

This mixture is then molded hot in a press to obtain an embossed surface at 15% humidity weighing approximately 1.2 kg per m2.

By a stamping process, the embossed surface is divided into waffles 15 cm in diameter. According to FIG. 1, the waffle has a central hole 3 cm in diameter (1) and a notch allowing it to be slid at the foot of the plants (2).

The C / N ratio of the material obtained is between 9 and 15, therefore highly assimilable by plants.

The advantage of this device is that it can slide easily at the feet of plants to prevent the growth of parasitic plants, while maintaining a favorable humidity rate and above all by providing nutrients directly assimilable by slow degradation.
