Abstract
The air mass is determined from measurement (8a) of the engine (1) operating regime, measurement (9) of the pressure and temperature of gas admitted to the engine through an inlet filter (7), and measurement (10) of the mass of gas admitted. A computer (8) switches between learning and control phases to regulate volumetric efficiency based on the incoming measurements.
