Abstract
The fuel for a nuclear fission reactor fuel comprises an alloy of beryllium with plutonium and/or uranium, having 12 - 20 atoms of beryllium to each atom of plutonium and/or uranium, and the mass of the plutonium and/or uranium being 50 - 96 per cent of the total mass of the alloy. Preferred Features: The fuel can be in the form of pencils, needles, plates, balls or particles and used in sleeves of stainless steel, zirconium and carbon compounds. It can be used in a nuclear reactor with its core cooled by light or heavy water, organic fluids, gases such as CO2, helium or hydrogen, or liquid metals such as lithium, gallium, sodium or potassium.
