Abstract

The treatment system for water containing various solids, comprising a bar screen with a rotary drum (3), an untreated water intake, a buffer tank (2), a filtered water outlet (4) and a siphon partition (7), has its capacity enhanced by the incorporation of a static filtration grille (6) in place of a part of the buffer tank wall. The grille (6) is fitted with a shutter (8) to regulate the flow of liquid passing through it, while the siphon partition imparts sufficient speed to the liquid to carry the filtration refuse over the drum and towards a scraper (5). The cleaning of the filtration grille produced by the siphon partition action is completed by a washing bar (9) located to the rear of the grille.

The present invention relates to a device for filtering water loaded with various solids. Its purpose is to increase the admissible flow by a known device: the rotary drum screen (see attached technical sheet).

The operating mode of this device is as follows (see Figure 1): - Raw water inlet in (1) - Filling of the buffer zone (2) - Filtration when passing through the drum (3) with retention of waste on the surface of the latter - Evacuation of filtered water in (4)
The filter drum (3), driven in rotation by a geared motor, causes the filter refusals to the scraper (5) where they are recovered for evacuation.

The flow rate admissible by this device is limited by the surface of the drum (3) in contact with the liquid contained in the buffer zone (2) (see Figure 2).

The device according to the invention (cf. FIG. 3) makes it possible to increase the admissible flow rate by the device without changing either the shape or the dimension. IT involves replacing part of the full sheet metal constituting the buffer tank with a filtration grid (6) with the same cut-off threshold as the filter drum (3). This filtration grid will consist of either a perforated sheet, a mesh filter cloth or a crack grid with trapezoidal bars type SPF or equivalent.

Positioned over all or part of the communication area between the buffer tank (2) and the filtered liquid discharge area, this element will ensure an increase in the device's flow rate, proportional to the filtering surface. A partial or total sealing device (8) will improve the operation of the assembly by optimizing the open surface offered to the liquid to be filtered.

<Desc/Clms Page number 2> <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

In order to avoid clogging of the filtration grid (6), the position of the siphon partition (7), as well as its inclination, will ensure in speed gradient of the liquid to be filtered sufficient to convey to the drum the screen refusals which otherwise would accumulate clogging of the filter element (6). This self-cleaning device may be supplemented by a washing ramp (9) located at the rear of the filter surface to ensure unclogging against the current. The same device can be installed at the front.
