Abstract

In a four stroke engine which has two admission valves and two exhaust valves at light loads the first exhaust valve (1) opens conventionally during the exhaust stroke and the second exhaust valve (2) opens for part of the exhaust stroke and most of the admission stroke. The first admission valve (3) opens late in the admission stroke and the second admission valve remains closed.
