Paraffin-free ethyl vinyl acetate adhesive for the manufacture of heat-sealable products in molds.
The invention relates to an EVA adhesive, heat-sealable in particular in the field of labeling in molds. The adhesives currently used contain microcrystalline waxes or paraffins. They are applied in fusion on polyethylene, polypropylene or polyterephthalate papers or films. The supports are printed and coated with the adhesive which heats up in the molds when injecting the bottles, cups and jars made of polystyrene, polyethylene, and polypropylene. EVA adhesives formulated with waxes or paraffins tend during the unwinding of the coils, to deposit waxes and paraffins on fixtures and cylinders, guide rollers, or cutting tools. Industrially, the molten adhesive is deposited by cylinders or lip nozzles at speeds up to 300 m / min, the adhesive being molten. After the coating has cooled down at this speed on a reel, the adhesive must be sufficiently dry on the surface to avoid sticking or setting by blocking and sticking of the turns between them. The invention relates to an adhesive based on ethyl acetate and tackifying resins, without using microcrystalline or paraffin waxes. The ethyl vinyl acetates which make it possible to obtain low viscosities as well as other performances such as sliding, sealing at 65 ° C., hot cohesion, are copolymers of ethyl vinyl acetate of 28 and 33% such as: EXXON Adeva 628.27.5% acid, melt index 400 to 190 C, Adeva 629 33% acid, melt index 400 to 190 C, Adeva 660 28% acid, melt index 2500 to 190 C, g / 10 minutes, on the one hand, moreover tackifying resins such as Escorez 5300,5400, 5600, 5618, Sylvarez SA 120, or Norsolene S 115 and S 120, polyethylene waxes modified or not, such as- Vestowax A 616, AC 400 from Allied signal, and as a slip agent derivatives of monoamide of erucic acid or of a polydimethylsiloxane oil. The hot-melt adhesives according to the invention are applicable in fusion with smooth cylinders between 150 and
190 C, or with lip nozzles heated to the same temperatures on paper supports, polyethylene, polypropylene or polyester films. They are different from the usual adhesives containing paraffins by the fact that they do not deposit paraffinic residues on the metal parts of the packaging machines and consequently make it possible to increase the performance of the packaging machines, these do not no longer requiring as many stops for cleaning. According to the invention, the final sliding power is obtained by the addition of monoamide of erucic acid or of a polydimethylosiloxane oil.
Exemple 1 Dans un malaxeur chauffé à 120 - 150 C on introduit les composés suivants : 8% d'Escorez 5600 résine tackifiante polycyclique aromatique hydrogénée d'un point de ramollissement de 103 C de chez EXXON Chemicals, 9% de Sylvarez SA 120 résine tackifiante et cohésivante hydrocarbonée de chez Arizona Chemicals, 5% de Vestowax A 616 Cire de polyéthylène HULS d'une masse moléculaire de 1600 environ, EXAMPLE 1 The following compounds are introduced into a mixer heated to 120-150 ° C: 8% of Escorez 5600 polycyclic aromatic hydrogenated tackifying resin with a softening point of 103 C from EXXON Chemicals, 9% of Sylvarez SA 120 tackifying resin and hydrocarbon cohesive from Arizona Chemicals, 5% of Vestowax A 616 HULS polyethylene wax with a molecular weight of approximately 1600,
