Abstract

The invention concerns a method using a network (59) supporting a first protocol in connected mode for transmitting packets having the format of a second protocol in connected mode between communication components (10, 20, 30, 40) comprising each means for communicating packets according to the second protocol and an interface device with the network, connected to one or several accesses of the communication means. The method consists in setting up connections of the first protocol between an interface device of a first component and the interface devices of several other components. In order to transmit packets between the first component and one of said other components, it consists in transporting them over the network by encapsulating them in data units of the first protocol, transmitted according to the connection set up between the interface devices of the two components, and in passing them through on links produced between the switching means and the interface device within each of the two components.
