Abstract

The present invention relates to a simultaneous cleaning and drying device for windows, furniture and the like. The device is characterized in that it comprises a cleaning pad (3) removably attached to the plate (1) of the device interchangeably, the pad comprising a layer of hydrophilic material (7) and a closed pocket (8) enveloping the hydrophilic layer (7) and consisting of a web of non-woven material permeable to cleaning liquid and having abrasive properties. The invention has for application the cleaning in particular of shop windows.

Description

The present invention relates to a cleaning and drying device

  for windows, furniture and the like having surfaces with

clean from time to time.

  The invention applies in particular to the cleaning of windows of motor vehicles or shop windows. Currently, cleaning of surfaces is carried out using a liquid product sprayer which is spread over the surface to be cleaned and wiped with a cloth. However, in the case of cleaning the interior of a windshield of a motor vehicle, spraying the cleaning liquid on the windshield often results in also spraying part of this product on the vehicle dashboard so it's

  necessary to clean both the windshield and the dashboard.

  Cleaning devices are also known comprising a rigid or semi-rigid plate provided, on one side, with a gripping means and,

  on the other side, a cleaning pad.

  However, these known devices have the major drawbacks, on the one hand, of not allowing effective cleaning and, on the other hand, of being

relatively expensive.

  The object of the present invention is to remedy the above drawbacks

  above by proposing a device allowing the simultaneous cleaning and drying in an easy and effortless manner, without leaving on the surfaces

  cleaned of traces of dirt spread by the device.

  To this end, according to the invention, the simultaneous cleaning and drying device for windows, furniture and the like, of the type comprising a rigid or semi-rigid plate provided, on one side, with a grip knob and, on the other side, of a cleaning pad, is characterized in that the cleaning pad is removably attached to the corresponding face of the plate so as to be interchangeable and is constituted by a pad comprising a layer of hydrophilic material and a closed pocket

  enveloping the hydrophilic layer and consisting of a non-woven material

  woven permeable to cleaning liquid and having abrasive properties.

  Preferably, the pocket of the pad has, on one of its external faces, an adhesive material making it possible to fix the pad to the plate and protected, before fixing the pad to the plate, by a removable protective strip. The adhesive material is applied hot to the pocket of the pad along one or more threads, continuous or discontinuous, extending longitudinally to the pad. Preferably, the hydrophilic layer of the pad is cellulose wadding and the veil of the pad pocket is based on polypropylene or

polyester.

  Advantageously, the protective strip of the adhesive material is in

io silicone paper.

  Advantageously, a sheet of polyethylene film is placed in the upper part of the pocket to protect the adhesive material from the alcohols which may be contained in the cleaning liquid absorbed in the hydrophilic layer. The invention will be better understood and other aims, characteristics,

  Explanatory which will follow refers to the accompanying schematic drawings given only by way of examples illustrating an embodiment of the invention and in which: - Figure 1 is an exploded perspective view of the device for cleaning and drying simultaneously the invention; and - Figure 2 is a perspective view of the cleaning and

  simultaneous drying ready for use.

  Referring to Figures 1 and 2, the cleaning device according to the invention comprises a plate 1 of slightly flexible rigid or semi-rigid material, for example a plastic material based on polystyrene and on one side of which can be removably fixed a pad 3 allowing the simultaneous cleaning and drying of a surface, such as for example a window pane, a window, a showcase of a goodwill or a windshield of

motor vehicle.

  The plate 1 comprises on its face 4 opposite to the face 2 which can be provided with the pad 3, a knob 5 forming a handle for gripping and operating the cleaning device. As shown, the knob 5 and the plate 1 constitute two pieces made of a different synthetic material, but they could form a single piece made, for example, by injection molding. The pommel 5 has recessed reliefs forming a hooking surface ensuring good grip of the device by the hand of the user. An elongated cavity or recess 6 is produced in the face 4 of the plate 1 and is intended to receive the index finger of the hand of the user holding the knob 5 so as to facilitate the application of the device and its operation on the surface to be cleaned. The imprint 6 may include asperities preventing the sliding of the index finger of the hand in this

  The plate 1 has the general shape of a rectangle whose angles can be more or less rounded as shown in the figures to facilitate cleaning in places difficult to access such as for example

corners of a vehicle windshield.

  The cleaning pad 3 comprises a layer of hydrophilic material 7 and a closed pocket 8 enveloping the layer 7 and which consists of a veil of relatively thin nonwoven material and capable of being traversed by a cleaning liquid. The veil of the pocket 8 also has the advantage of having abrasive properties and, because of its texture, can give the device a good sliding effect on the surface to be cleaned with the advantage of lightly scratching the dirt on this surface. and retain, in holes in the veil, the dirt dissolved in the cleaning liquid. Preferably, the veil of the pocket 8 is based on polypropylene

or polyester.

  In addition, the hydrophilic layer 7 is preferably cellulose wadding known for its very high absorbency, gradually impregnating the cleaning liquid and having a drying action of the

surface to be cleaned.

  To allow the pad 3 to be interchangeably attached to the plate 1 of the cleaning device, the pocket 8 has on its upper face than that opposite its cleaning face, an adhesive material constituted, as shown, by several threads or broken lines 9 of hot-applied glue in the longitudinal direction of the shaped pad 3

  Advantageously, the cleaning pad 3 is provided with a sheet of polyethylene film 11 situated in the pocket 8 between the hydrophilic layer 7 and the part of the upper web on which the adhesive material 9 is applied, so as to protect the material adhesive 9 of the alcohols that can be contained in window cleaning products which destroy most standard adhesives. The assembly constituted by the plate 1 and the pad 3 is sold in the same package and to use the cleaning device, the user removes the plate 1 and the pad 3 from the package, then removes the protective strip 10 to expose the adhesive material of the pocket 8 and apply the pad 3

  on the face 2 of the plate 1 to fix the pad 3 to the latter by gluing.

  Once the cleaning liquid has vaporized on the surface to be cleaned, such as a window pane, the fleece of nonwoven material of the pocket 8 has a mechanical cleaning action and is, by definition, inert and lets the cleaning liquid through. while retaining dirt. Simultaneously, the interior of the pocket 8 made of cellulose wadding gradually impregnates the

  cleaning and the desired action of drying the glass.

  The device of the invention described above effectively cleans any surface to be cleaned using all types of cleaning products and provides excellent comfort thanks to the flexibility of the layer of cellulose wadding of a certain thickness which also allows to exert a uniform cleaning pressure thanks to the grip plate. In addition, the device allows faster cleaning than the devices known until now because the surface cleaned on each pass is larger. To improve the quality of cleaning, the pad can be changed by another one as often as

  necessary, the used cushion then being discarded.

  Of course, the device of the invention can be arranged by choosing components that better meet certain applications, for example by changing the characteristics of the non-woven material of the pocket to correspond to the use of certain cleaning products for increase the overall polishing power, or by incorporating materials known as superabsorbents into the layer

  1 - Device for simultaneously cleaning and drying glass, furniture and the like, comprising a rigid or semi-rigid plate (1) provided, on one side, with a grip knob (5) and, on the other side , of a cleaning pad (3), characterized in that the cleaning pad (3) is removably attached to the corresponding face (2) of the plate (1) so as to be interchangeable and is constituted by a pad ( 3) comprising a layer of hydrophilic material (7) and a closed pocket (8) enveloping the hydrophilic layer (7) and consisting of a veil of permeable nonwoven material   with cleaning liquid and having abrasive properties.   2 - Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the pocket (8) of the pad (3) has on one of its external faces an adhesive material (9) for fixing the pad (3) to the plate (1 ) and protected, before fixing the bearing (3) to the plate (1), by a protective strip removable (10).   3 - Device according to claim 2, characterized in that the adhesive material is applied hot to the pocket (8) of the pad (3) according to   at least one thread (9) extending longitudinally to the pad (3).   4 - Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in   that the hydrophilic layer (7) of the pad (3) is cellulose wadding.   - Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in   that the web of the pocket (8) of the pad (3) is based on polypropylene or polyester.   6 - Device according to one of claims 2 to 5, characterized in that   the protective strip (10) of the adhesive material (9) is made of silicone paper.   7 - Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in   a sheet of polyethylene film (11) is placed in the upper part of the pocket (8) to protect the adhesive material (9) from the alcohols which may be contained in the cleaning liquid absorbed in the layer hydrophilic (7).
