Abstract

The support bar consists of a square-section tube (6) holding a circular-section cover (7) made of flexible material. The clamp supporting the tube has a J-shaped tube (12) with its straight end sloping down from the support bar to a clamp (4) with a hook (5) engaging the edge of the table. There may be several fastening holes (3) to allow the clamp to be held in different positions along the tube. The J-shaped end of the tube curves up towards the bottom of the table and there is a bush (9) accommodating an adjustment screw (10) which pushes up against the bottom of the table.

Description

The present invention relates to a support device for use with a

  keyboard (computer or other) attaching to the edge of the table or desk plan on which is

put down the keyboard.

  The purpose of this device is to support the forearms of the user of the keyboard in order to avoid the latter spinal, cervical or back pain, while allowing

  to hit the keyboard and use the mouse.

  Currently many keyboard users suffer from "back pain" or fatigue when typing on a keyboard. They must provide muscular support for the upper limbs subjected to gravity; this causes muscular tension in the entire shoulder girdle and mainly in the entire back and spine; from where the logical consequence of various pains such as "back pain", back pain, neck pain, muscle spasms, cervical brachial neuralgia .... The use of this device allows to support all the upper limbs, by

  support of the forearms, elbows or wrists, on this one, facilitating the work on the keyboard.

  When the upper limbs are supported, the back of the person is relaxed by relaxation of the main muscles of the shoulder girdle and the back. This prevents that

  vertebral or para-vertebral lesions are created or amplified.

  It is therefore the way to avoid or improve the classic "back pain" of keyboard users, and also to avoid the medical and financial consequences which result from it. The main technical characteristic of this device is therefore to support the upper limbs and the upper part of the body, allowing to work on a keyboard with

or without the mouse.

  This device consists of two parts (Figures 1,2 and 3): - a fixing part (1), composed of two elements, a right element and a left element, each comprising a fixing bar (1) and a clamp (3) which fixes this device to the plan of the desk or the table which carries the keyboard, - an adjustable support part (2), fixed on the previous one, serving as a support bar

  for forearms, elbows or wrists.

  The part (1) is fixed to the plane on either side of the keyboard by a clamp system (3) adaptable to the different thicknesses and configurations of this work plan or this desk. This part (1) also presents a possibility of adjustment towards the front or towards

  the rear depending on the positioning of the clamp (3) relative to the fixing bar.

  The part (2), support part, is fixed on the two elements of the part of

  fixing (1). This part (2) can also be adjusted in height.

  The support bar (2) is sheathed and padded with flexible materials so as to provide a comfortable support at the forearms, elbows or wrists.

  The fixing clamp (3) consists of a screwing system so as to adapt to the different configurations of the worktops or the different desks carrying the keyboard on which it is fixed. This clamp (3) will be positioned at various possible locations on the fixing bar (1) so as to adjust the distance of the support bar (2) to the plane carrying the keyboard. The support bar can be adjusted in height on the fixing part (1) so that each user can find their optimum support height according to their morphology and habits. This support bar (2) may possibly consist of two separate, lateral parts, serving as support

  individual for each forearm: the device in this configuration therefore consists of two distinct, separate parts, a right and a left. It is also possible to adapt an armrest for each forearm. This device and this principle15 can also be integrated into the creation or construction of an office work plan.

  This device is therefore intended for very wide use. It concerns all people who use a keyboard (computer or other), a typewriter, a keyboard for word processing, a mouse ... and more generally people sitting in front of a

office.

  The main indications for using this support and support device are: * to avoid deterioration of the back in people with a healthy back, when working on a keyboard or sitting in front of a desk, * to avoid or reduce back pain in people with pathological back when using the keyboard, * avoid pathological development of the back (arthritis, arthritis, neuralgia,

Claims (4)

Claims   1) Ergonomic device for supporting the spine creating a back support system by supporting the upper limbs of the user of a desk (or a piece of furniture), and / or a keyboard, characterized in that '' it comprises an assembly of a fixing part (1) fixed to the piece of furniture (desk, table, drawer) supporting the keyboard, and a support part (2) serving to support the forearms, or elbows or user's wrists. 2) Device according to claim 1 characterized by its fixing part (clamp (3)), to the piece of furniture, table or desk, making it possible to obtain support outside the work surface,   between the desk or table, and the user.   3) Device according to claim 1 characterized by its support part forming a comfortable support system for the upper limbs of the user, by a padded support bar or by a system of armrests giving all the possibilities   necessary for the user to use the keyboard and mouse.   4) Device according to claims 1, 2 and 3, characterized by possibilities of   adjustments in all directions or retraction depending on the configuration of the desk or the cabinet on which this device is fixed and on which the keyboard rests,   as well as according to the morphology and habits of each user.
