Abstract

The divan base and mattress is composed of a set of round laths (1) each held inside a two part (2,3) foam block. The block is stuck onto a support (4) and is provided with uprights (5). The bottom part of the foam block is drilled with two holes (6) for receiving springs (7), which are immobilized in two support housings (8), and support the laths. The whole of the foam block is enveloped in a very resilient fabric (9).

Description

 The present invention relates to a mattress base capable of marrying and maintaining in an ideal position, the anatomical profile of each individual, during sleep, in particular that of the lumbar region, which, if not respected, is one of the main causes of pain on waking, or simply discomfort during sleep.

 The vast majority of current bed bases are made up of slats which, by design, cannot have a large range of motion in relation to each other, and therefore cannot precisely follow the anatomical profile of the user. On the other hand, even if their amplitude were increased, the thickness of the mattress would largely cancel out the desired effect.

 The mattress base according to the invention overcomes these drawbacks.

 It is indeed composed according to a first characteristic, of a set of slats covered with foam, protected with a cotton house. These slats are very close to each other (spacing 5 to 10mm), and each capable of a large range of movement from top to bottom (more than 15cm), thus allowing them to adapt very perfectly to the entire curvature of the user lying on the mattress base, whatever its position: On the back, on the side or on the stomach, providing incomparable comfort.

With reference to these drawings, the mattress base is composed of a set of round slats (1), embedded and glued each in a block of foam in two parts (2) and (3),
glued together, one on top of the other.

Each foam block (2) and (3) is glued to a wooden support (4); on which are fixed two stiffening uprights (5) on each side.

 The upper part of the block (2) is made of dense foam avoiding to feel the slats (1) below.

 The lower part (3) of the block is made of light foam, capable of being easily crushed and machined from two persages (6), each receiving a spring (7), coming to be positioned from the bottom, in a bore (8) on the upright (5).

 Above the two springs (7) are placed the round slats (1), which are also glued to the foam.

 The foam blocks (2) and (3) are held together by an elastic fabric (9), which envelops them completely but which nevertheless allows each block (2) and (3) to easily go up and down by compared to its immediate neighbor.

 Above this elastic fabric (9) is placed the usual ticking (10).

 When the user lies down on the mattress, each foam block (2) and (3) descends independently of the others, and because of their large number (about twenty), they manage to marry the most the profile of the body is perfectly possible, while ensuring effective support.

 The round slats (1), of sufficient section to avoid sagging, allow the horizontal support of the body. Their round shape prevents premature wear of the foam around, while being more comfortable.

 The springs (7), which can vary in strength according to their position and the weight of the user, prevent the foam from falling off, thus ensuring immediate repositioning of each block (2) and (3), after use.

 The low density of the foam (3) gives great flexibility to the mattress, which would not be possible with a dense foam like that in (2).

 The uprights (5) give rigidity to the assembly, while firmly immobilizing the springs (7).

 1) Mattress base characterized in that it comprises a set of round slats (1), embedded and glued each, in a block of foam (2) and (3), made in two parts, of different density, glued between one on top of the other.  2) mattress-base, according to claim 1, charac terized in that each foam block (2) and (3), is glued by its underside, on a wooden support (4), on which are fixed two stiffening uprights (5).  3) mattress-base, according to claims 1 and 2, characterized in that the lower part (3) of the foam block is provided on each side with a perforation (6), receiving a spring (7), immobilized in a bore (8), made on the upright (5).
