Abstract

The indicator label, e.g. for a garment, consists of a backing layer (6) and zones (3, 4, 5) of different materials to show whether the garment has been washed at too high a temperature, subjected to degradation or washed with articles from which the color has run.

Description

The present invention relates to a maintenance indicator label for

textile articles, allowing

  highlight one or more washing parameters.

  Textile garments usually have a care label that provides information on garment washing operations, including cleaning, washing temperature and ironing. The conventional images on the maintenance labels refer to the maintenance code, the application of which is ensured and controlled by COFREET (Comité Français de

  Textile Maintenance Labeling).

  Despite these indications allowing a good maintenance of the textile articles by the user, it often happens that the clothes are washed incorrectly, either because the temperature indicated was exceeded, or because the color of another garment has disgorged, or again because the detergents are too aggressive. Garments that have been washed incorrectly by the buyer are, however, subject to complaints from the seller. It often happens that the seller is obliged to take back the sold garment, because he cannot prove that the reason for the deterioration of the garment is in fact a

improper washing.

  We know in the field of maintenance control labels, printed labels. For example, document GB-A-2243140 discloses an indicator which changes color irreversibly if a given temperature is reached or exceeded. The location that changes color can be treated or printed with a suitable chemical that changes color at a given temperature. There are also labels with hot air temperature overshoot indicators

  which are not suitable for washing problems.

  The disadvantage of the different types of known labels is the fact that they are either adhesive, and therefore can peel off or be peeled off, or be printed and therefore do not allow to combine several

  washing indicators on the same label.

  The present invention overcomes the disadvantages of labels of the prior art. A first object according to the invention is a care indicator label for textile articles, comprising one or more washing indicators making it possible to irreversibly highlight one or more washing parameters, characterized in that

  that the washing indicator means or means are woven.

  By "irreversibly" is meant that the change affecting the washing indicator means is final. The label according to the invention is woven independently and then sewn onto the garment, or else woven directly into the garment which one wishes to mark with or

several washing indicators.

  The woven label is made up of warp threads and weft threads, and can therefore be made up of warp threads of a certain textile material, and of weft threads of another textile material forming the washing indicator proper. It can also be formed by warp and weft threads similarly

  plain, in textile material forming the washing indicator.

  The advantage of the present invention is on the one hand that the label can be sewn onto the garment or be woven directly into the garment, and on the other hand that several washing indicators can be incorporated into the label. A secondary advantage of the invention is that the woven label provides a quality image and can be woven to reproduce the logo of the brand of the garment. In a preferred embodiment according to the invention, the washing indicator (s) preferably detect the excess temperature and / or the

degradation and / or disgorgement.

  By "temperature overshoot" is meant that the temperature indicated by the COFREET code has been exceeded and that the garment has been altered by this temperature overshoot. The temperature overshoot indicator is sensitive to temperature overshoot in an aqueous medium. This indicator does not work during a

  high temperature without using water.

  The material of the wire constituting the temperature overshoot indicator must exhibit marked degradation kinetics over a range of a few degrees. In particular, for a so-called indicator at a temperature of 40 ° C., a wire will be chosen having a start of degradation at 50 ° C. This margin of 10 ° C. guarantees good

  service life of the indicator if there are many washes.

  By indicator of "degradation" of textile articles or "washing equivalents" means an indicator which makes it possible to monitor the number of washes and

  the aggressiveness of laundry products.

  By "disgorging" indicator is meant an indicator which makes it possible to indicate that during washing a

  other product has disgorged and may have damaged the garment.

  The washing indicators are arranged by weaving one next to the other to constitute the label. The labels are designed independently of the garment, and are then sewn onto the garment. We can imagine all kinds of geometric shape of the indicators belonging to the label, the main thing being that the different indicators and other markings can be found on a small area of fabric. We will proceed sequentially to produce this label, first by warping a base made of warp threads, then by weaving in a different color, in a weft, the different washing indicator thread (s), having preferably colors

  respectively different from each other.

  The woven maintenance indicator labels according to the invention can have any mode of interlacing of the warp and weft threads, or weave. The armor is independent of the number of threads in warp and weft, as well as the size of the threads used. There is a multitude of armor which are all derived from the three basic armor of type canvas or taffeta, of type

twill and satin type.

  In a very preferred embodiment according to the invention, the labels woven in plain or taffeta weave will be produced, which make it possible to improve the abrasion resistance of the washing indicator and its

cohesion over time.

  Depending on the washing indicator that you want to put in the label, the warp and weft threads can either be of the same kind or of different kinds. In a preferred embodiment according to the invention, the warp and weft threads constituting the temperature overshoot indicator are of different natures. It is preferable to use for warp yarns polyester (PE) or polyamide (PA) yarns, and for weft yarns polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) yarns, sold by KURARAY Co. LTD. PVA yarns may be used, indicating temperatures of 40, 60 or 80 C, depending on the type of garment to be marked with the witness label. The PVA thread is preferably used in ecru or white. If the temperature is excessive, the water-soluble PVA yarn breaks up. We therefore check that an excessive temperature has been used by the

disappearance of the indicator.

  In another preferred embodiment according to the invention, the warp and weft threads constituting the degradation indicator are identical in nature and are preferably made of PA colored with an ink of

medium quality.

  In yet another preferred embodiment according to the invention, the warp and weft threads constituting the disgorging indicator are of a nature

  identical and are preferably in ecru or white PA.

  The disgorgement indicator will preferably be located

  at the edge of the label, near the textile article.

  If the bleeding comes from the article, we will observe a gradual coloring of the article towards the outside. If the disgorgement comes from another article, the entire surface will be colored. If the surface is white, it will be all the easier to identify the colors that could have migrated. We will preferably choose a white thread of PA 6.6 which has the best dyeing properties. One or more washing indicators may take the form of handwritten indications or drawings, and other original patterns. Many variant designs are possible according to the invention; we can make numbers and letters, the brand logo

  clothing and also draw the COFREET codes.

  It will be preferred, in the label according to the invention, that the following three washing indicators be present: over temperature, degradation and disgorging.   Example 1: Manufacturing a label such as

  shown in Figure 1, dimensions 30 mm x 110 mm.

  To make the label, we proceed to the following stages: 1) Warping of the chains: Bottom chain: 168 threads in 100 dtex Polyester to

600 turns.

  Stop chain: 8 threads in 167 dtex Polyester to

200 turns.

  Selvedge chain: 20 threads in 100 dtex polyester

at 600 revolutions.

  2) Assembly of the warp threads on a Jacquard ribbon label loom: Threading followed by: 8 strings selvedge threads 4 strings stop threads 168 strings bottom threads 4 strings stop threads 12 strings selvedge threads Combing: 4 wire in teeth, - the whole is multiplied by the number of pieces

  on the trade (6 pieces or 12 pieces).

  3) Weaving of the label: - The bottom of the label is woven in taffeta using a weft of 76 dtex polyester with a density

  28 double wefts per centimeter.

  - The drawings forming indicators are made

  with a 76 dtex polyester paperback frame.

  4) Weaving rate for the label: 1 minute label per piece, either:

  - 6 labels / minute for a 6-piece loom.

  - 12 labels / minute for a 12-piece loom. Example 2: Manufacturing a label such as

  shown in Figure 2, dimensions 60 mm x 65 mm.

  The same process is carried out as for the previous label with 312 bottom wires, 8 stop wires and 20

selvedge threads.

  These labels can only be mounted on a 6-piece loom with a rate of 6 labels / minute.

Label according to claim 4, characterized in that the warp threads are polyester (PE) or polyamide (PA) threads, and the weft threads are made of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA).   6. Label according to claim 2, characterized in that the warp and weft threads constituting the degradation indicator are of identical nature, and are preferably made of PA colored with medium quality ink.   7. Label according to claim 2, characterized in that the warp and weft son constituting the disgorging indicator are of a nature   identical, and are preferably in ecru PA.
