Abstract

A child may be protected from a domestic appliance (5) such as a cooker by heat detectors or photocells (1,2). If the prefered heat detectors are used an adult approaching the cooker will be detected in an upper zone (4) before a lower zone (3) and no alarm will be generated. For a child there will be a single detection in the lower zone (3) and an audible alarm will be sounded.

Description

-1- The present invention relates to a device to avoid certain

  domestic accidents in children.

  Device for monitoring areas at risk for children and preventing access to them; such as proximity to household appliances, stairwells, places for storing dangerous products and around swimming pools

for example.

  The device according to the invention monitoring the risk zone which may be

  present in different variants.

  The device goes into alarm only when a

child in the risk zone.

  The device that can work: by differentiating the size of a child compared to an adult; either using photocells on two levels minimum, or by the method operating on the principle of heat

emitted by a moving body.

  The device always on the principle of the heat emitted by a moving body or on an equivalent principle, which can also function by analyzing the body being in the risk zone differentiating from

  this makes the child compared to the adult.

  The device using photocells consisting in differentiating the size of a child compared to an adult, functioning in the following manner When a small child enters a risk zone delimited by photocells on two levels, this one interrupts one

  beams located at its level provided for this purpose and triggers an alarm.

  When a larger adult approaches this same risk zone, the latter interrupts a second beam located at its level and inaccessible to the child, before crossing the risk zone or

  simultaneously and thereby deactivating the alarm device.

  The photocells can be adjusted according to the operation and the desired result; the number is not limited, and surveillance may

  also be done with a single photocell.

  The accompanying drawing illustrates the most suitable variant of the invention.

  heat emitted by a moving body.

  With reference to FIG. 1, the device consists in differentiating the presence of a child of size less than (H) compared to an adult of size greater than (H), so that the alarm is triggered only during the

presence of a single child.

  -2- A child of size less than (H), entering the risk zone (3) of a household appliance (5) which is in use and presenting a danger to the child, the detector (2) monitoring the zone (3) by detecting

its presence triggers an alarm.

  An adult larger than (H) when approaching this same risk zone (3), will first enter zone (4) before reaching zone (3) or simultaneously; and is therefore detected by the detector (1) monitoring

  zone (4) deactivating the alarm device.

  The scanning zones (3) and (4) can be adjustable according to the utility and

  the desired height, as well as for adjustment after mounting.

  The device can be presented in different shapes and sizes; the detectors can be mounted, either in a single housing or separately; can be autonomous in the form of a kit to be permanently installed, mobile on feet, or factory mounted forming an integral part of a household appliance presenting a danger for

the child for example.

  The alarm can be audible or vocal and at the same time be a deterrent or

in any other form.

  The device can be equipped with either a single detector only, or two minimum depending on the utility and the desired operation, but always

on the same principle.

Claims (6)

  1) Device to avoid certain domestic accidents in children characterized in the variant of Figure 1 in that it comprises a detector (1) monitoring the area (4) and a detector (2) monitoring the risk area (3), close to a household appliance (5) which is in use and which presents a danger to children of a height less than (H). 2) Device according to claim 1 characterized in that an alarm is triggered only when a child is present in the area to risks (3).   3) Device according to claim 1 characterized in that it operates on   the principle of the heat emitted by a moving body.   4) Device according to claim 1 characterized in that it differentiates the   size of a child compared to an adult thanks to two detectors (1) and (2).   ) Device according to claim 1 characterized in that a child of size less than (H) entering the risk zone (3) of a household appliance (5); the detector (2) detecting its presence triggers the alarm. 6) Device according to claim 1 characterized in that when an adult of size greater than (H) approaching the same risk area (3) will first enter the area (4) before reaching the area (3) or simultaneously; and therefore is detected by the detector (1) monitoring the   zone (4) deactivating the alarm device.   7) Device according to claim l characterized in that it can operate on the principle of heat listed by a moving body or on an equivalent principle, by analyzing the body in the   risk zone, thereby differentiating the child from the adult.   8) Device according to claim 1 characterized in that it can operate by differentiating the size of a child compared to an adult to using photo cells.   9) Device according to claim 1 characterized in that it can be provided with a single detector, a single photocell or more depending on the utility and the desired operation.   ) Device according to claim 1 characterized in that the detectors   can be mounted in a single housing or separately.
