Abstract

The hand tool consists of a socket (3) into which is inserted the handle (4). The socket also has one or more thin blades (1 and 2) connected to it, with one or more strengthening ribs (6 and 7), running perpendicularly to each blade and to the socket.

Hand tool for working the soil and in particular

uprooting.

  The present invention relates to a hand tool carried by a handle for working the soil and in particular the cutting and uprooting of buried roots. This invention is for example intended for the maintenance of crops and in particular the maintenance of vines. Indeed, the cultivation of vines regularly requires cutting and uprooting the roots which extend horizontally at shallow depth. This operation, when carried out manually, is done by the use of generally ill-adapted tools such as picks for example. These tools, generally obtained by molding, are heavy and difficult to handle and make the work very laborious. In addition, these tools generally tend to shred the roots rather than cutting them, cleanly and without

  excessively stir the soil covering the roots.

  The present invention aims to provide a new tool, cutting, light and handy characterized in that it is composed of a socket in which is inserted the handle, of one or more blades, thin and cutting at their ends, linked to the socket and one or more reinforcing gussets linked

  perpendicular to the blade and the socket.

  The tool according to the present invention is preferably obtained by assembling forged elements then welded, thus, the present invention

  relatively simple to make, without resorting to heavy molding processes.

  In addition, this manufacturing method makes it possible to obtain a light tool having very good mechanical resistance. According to a first embodiment presented in Figure 1, the tool is composed of two blades (1 and 2) mounted in opposition on either side of the sleeve (3), each along a plane perpendicular to the axis longitudinal of the sleeve (3). The sleeve (3) is an annular ring, slightly conical to 0o allow the blocking of the handle (4). Each blade can be produced, for example, from a 5mm thick steel plate. The end (5) of each blade can be provided with a sharp part (5 and 9) to allow a perfect cut. The two blades (1 and 2) can be of different shapes and sizes depending on the type of work to be performed. By way of example, the first blade can have a length of 20 cm for a width of 8 cm, the second blade a length of cm for a width of 5 cm. Preferably, the blades are fixed flush

  from the lower end of the socket.

  To allow better penetration into the ground, the blades can be slightly inclined with respect to the perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the

  socket, in order to follow the circular path of the tool during its use.

  To withstand the shocks generated during cutting, the blades (1 and 2) are reinforced

  by gussets (6 and 7), connected perpendicularly to the blade and the sleeve (3).

  According to another embodiment shown in Figure 2, the blade (8) is perpendicular to the other blade (1), along a plane parallel to the longitudinal axis -of the sleeve. Such a configuration makes it possible to have on the same tool a blade perfectly suited for cutting the roots and another blade allowing for example to dig up the roots thus cut. To allow better cutting of the roots, the cutting line (9) of the blade (8) can be slightly inclined relative to the axis of the handle (4), in the same way as for the previous embodiment, for follow the circular path of the tool during use.
