Abstract

The invention relates to a folding frame for childcare furniture object, comprising a first (11) and a second frame element (12), respectively defining a first and a second plane and forming substantially a triangle articulated at one of its vertices, held in the unfolded position by means of at least one element forming a retaining link (15), said second element (12) of chassis having a portion forming axis of articulation (123), and the first element of chassis (11) having two parallel portions (111 and 112) between them and perpendicular to said axis of articulation, and comprising two connection modules: - a first connection module (13), said module in pi, mounted on said portion of the second frame member forming a hinge pin and receiving one end of each of said parallel portions of the first frame member; and - a second connection module (14), said H-module, perpendicular to said parallel portions of the first chassis element, which can slide along said parallel portions and carrying one end of each of said retaining elements.

Folding frame for childcare furniture object, and method

corresponding manufacturing.

  The field of the invention is that of childcare. More specifically, the invention relates to the manufacture and production of children's furniture objects, such as playpens, changing tables, chairs, deckchairs, beds, ... More precisely still,

  the invention relates to folding frames for such childcare articles.

  By folding frame is meant a frame which can take a folded position, in which all of the elements which constitute it are brought as much as possible substantially in the same plane, in order to reduce its bulk, and at least one unfolded position in which the chassis rests stably on four feet, and serves as a support for the elements defining the object in question (park walls, table

  changing, bath, chair, hammock, deckchair, bed, etc.).

  Folding frames have been around for a long time in the field of childcare.

  Numerous known systems, based in particular on joints, hinges, links, return means, etc., suffice to consult catalogs in the field to find that, for each piece of childcare furniture,

  solutions adapted to the specific needs of the object concerned have been proposed.

  So, for example, playpens, changing tables and bathtubs can exploit a double symmetry (with respect to the length and width of the object) to

allow efficient folding.

  In the case of high chairs, there is generally provided a rear frame element, corresponding to the rear legs, on which is articulated a second frame element corresponding to the front legs. Two joints are provided, one on each of the rear legs, substantially at the level of the seat attachment

well said.

  In general, known folding frames are complex to build, and require a high number of parts, meticulous assembly (for example, to articulate the front and rear legs of a high chair using two small axes

  whose precise positioning is not easy).

  In addition, these known techniques require specific manufacture for

each piece of furniture.

  The invention particularly aims to overcome these drawbacks of the state of the art. More specifically, the objective of the invention is to provide a new technique

  manufacturing folding frames for childcare furniture objects.

  This general objective includes in particular the following specific sub-objectives: - to provide folding frames that are simpler to manufacture and assemble than folding frames of known types; - provide folding frames formed by a limited number of parts and simple to make; provide a folding frame, and more generally a corresponding item of furniture, which is of reduced cost, without affecting its other qualities (ease of use, solidity, reliability, security, ...); provide a new type of chassis, which allows to develop new

  aesthetic aspects for children's furniture.

  These objectives, as well as others which will appear subsequently, are achieved according to the invention with the aid of a folding chassis for childcare furniture object, comprising a first and a second chassis elements, respectively defining a first and a second plane and substantially forming a triangle articulated at one of its vertices, held in the unfolded position by means of at least one element forming a retaining rod, said second frame element having a portion forming an axis of articulation , and the first chassis element having two portions parallel to each other and perpendicular to said axis of articulation, and comprising two connection modules: - a first connection module, said module at A, mounted on said portion of the second chassis element forming a hinge pin and receiving one end of each of said parallel portions of the first frame member; and a second connection module, said H-module, perpendicular to said parallel portions of the first frame member, capable of sliding along said parallel portions and carrying one end of each of said

holding elements.

  A particularly simple chassis is thus obtained, and allowing the production of a large number of childcare objects, from the same basic system.

  The assembly is very simple, the number of parts being reduced.

  Such a folding frame can in particular be intended for at least one of the objects belonging to the group comprising: - playpens for children; - changing tables and / or baths for children; - children's beds; - children's chairs, especially high chairs;

  - children's chairs of the deckchair type.

  According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, said connection modules are produced in the form of two complementary half-shells,

joined together during assembly.

  The manufacture of these modules is then easy (for example by molding), likewise

as mounting and assembling.

  The invention relates in particular to a playpen comprising such a folding frame, and in which said holding element forms a lower frame. Such a park includes in particular an upper frame extending parallel to said lower frame, in the unfolded position, a net forming the walls of said park being stretched between said

lower and upper frames.

  Advantageously, said upper frame is articulated on said portion forming an axis of articulation of the second chassis element, and maintained in the deployed position using

  at least one link connecting said upper frame and said second chassis element.

  The invention also relates to a changing table comprising such a folding frame, and comprising an upper frame extending parallel to said lower frame,

  in the unfolded position, designed to receive a changing tray and / or a bathtub.

  Preferably, said changing tray is equipped with holding pads,

  cooperating with said upper frame and, where appropriate, with another support.

  Thus, for example, the tray can also be used on another support, such as a bed. Advantageously, in this case, the position of at least some of the holding pads can be adjustable.

  The invention also relates to a high chair comprising such a folding frame.

  It includes in particular an upper frame extending parallel to said frame

  lower, in the unfolded position, designed to receive a shelf.

  According to an advantageous embodiment, said upper frame is pivotally mounted with respect to an axis passing through said first chassis element, so that it can assume a shelf support position, by coming to bear on stops provided for this effect on said second chassis element, and a withdrawal position,

  behind said first frame member. It can also be removable.

  Preferably, such a high chair comprises a first cross member connecting the uprights of said first frame member and a second cross member connecting the amounts of said second frame member, said cross members cooperating with

  means for supporting the seat of said high chair.

  The invention also relates to a deckchair comprising such a folding frame, said first frame element extending substantially parallel to the ground, and said

  second frame element supporting the hammock of said deckchair.

  According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, for such a deckchair, said H-link module can take at least two distinct stable positions along said first frame element, corresponding to different inclinations of said deckchair. Preferably, a support piece for the seat of said hammock, integral with said elements forming holding rods, is provided, so that the angle between

  the seat and back of the hammock varies depending on the angle of the deckchair.

  The invention also relates to a method of manufacturing at least two types of folding frames disitncts for childcare object, comprising the steps of: - specific production, for each of said types of frame, of a first and a second element of chassis, said second chassis element having a portion intended to form a hinge axis, and said first chassis element having two portions parallel to each other, and perpendicular to said hinge axis, and of at least one holding element in the unfolded position; - generic production, for all said types of chassis, of two connection modules, a first connection module, said module at A, and a second connection module, said module at H; - assembly of the articulation of each of said chassis using said module in

  said first and second chassis elements respectively defining a first and a second planes substantially forming a triangle articulated at one of its vertices and maintained in the unfolded position via said holding element, said 7z module being mounted on said portion of the second chassis element forming an articulation axis and receiving one end of each of two parallel portions of the first chassis element, so as to substantially form a triangle articulated at one of its vertices; mounting of said H-shaped module, perpendicular to said parallel portions of the first frame element, which can slide along said portions

  parallel and receiving a portion of each of said holding elements.

  Thus, it is possible to produce several separate objects, by reusing the same parts, which makes it possible to achieve significant savings, and to simplify the

inventory management.

  Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear more clearly on

  reading the following description of a preferred embodiment, given as

  manufacture of different chassis according to the invention.

  The invention therefore relates to a new chassis for furniture objects of

  childcare. The general principle of this chassis is illustrated by FIGS. 1A and 1B.

  FIG. 1A shows, seen from the side, the frame elements common to all the pieces of furniture. The specific complementary aspects are discussed below, in relation to the corresponding figures. Figure lB illustrates the chassis of Figure 1A seen from behind. It is clear that, in these figures lA and lB, the scales and the

  size ratios between the different parts are not necessarily respected.

  A chassis according to the invention therefore comprises a first chassis element 11 and a second chassis element 12. These two chassis elements 11 and 12 are articulated

  at one of their ends by means of a first connection module 13.

  A second connection module 14 is provided, which can slide on the first frame element 11. It is integral with at least one link 15 (conventionally, for reasons of symmetry, a link is provided on each of the sides of the frame, or a single piece comprising the two links, for example forming a "U" or a complete frame). These rods are pivotally mounted on the second frame element

12 at their other end.

  Thus, in the unfolded position, the basic elements of the chassis define

  substantially an "A" profile (FIG. 1A).

  During folding, the second connecting module 14 slides along the first

  chassis element 11 towards the first connection module 13 (or in the opposite direction).

  The link 15 and the first connection module 13 then bring the second element of

  chassis 12 in the plane of the first element 11.

  Preferably, the frame elements 11 and 12 are substantially curved, and not conventionally rectilinear. In addition to the new aesthetic appearance, this allows in particular the second chassis element 12 to provide support and

  effective maintenance of specific elements of the piece of furniture concerned.

  Furthermore, this curved line makes it possible to define a neutral point, which can form anti-folding security (for example, in the case of the high chair described below, it is not possible to fold the chair involuntarily by acting on the ends of the legs (as a child could do on the front legs, the rear legs being held against a wall. In the absence of

  this neutral point, additional security would prove necessary.

  In addition, this shape provides greater stability than simple

rectilinear legs.

  It will also be noted, as clearly appears in FIG. 1B, that the spacing between the uprights 111 and 112 of the first chassis element 11 is very small compared to the spacing between the uprights 121 and 122 of the second chassis element. The second element of the chassis 12 must indeed be able to receive a hammock, a

bathtub, the walls of a park, ...

  The uprights 111 and 112 are in turn provided to cooperate with the two connection modules 13 and 14. To ensure stability, they end with feet 113

  and 114 spaced apart extending parallel to the ground.

  Advantageously, the first frame element 11 is formed of two independent and identical uprights. The second chassis element 12 can for its part be produced in a single piece, the intermediate portion 123 of which forms the axis of articulation of the chassis. These two chassis elements 11 and 12 are for example produced using

  tubular parts, according to conventional techniques.

  In most cases, the chassis will be used in the position illustrated in Figure 1A. I1 is clear however that it can be tilted (the first element 11 then being substantially horizontal) without departing from the scope of the invention. This is for example the case

of the deckchair described below.

  FIGS. 2A and 2B show a structure (that is to say essentially the chassis and certain constituent elements, but not the covering, the finishing or the

  optional elements) of a changing table according to the invention.

  We recognize, in Figure 2A, the first frame member 11 and the second member 12 which define the four legs 211 to 214 of the table. The first connection module (7t module) 13 is mounted on the intermediate part 123 of the second chassis element, and can pivot on this axis. It also maintains the two amounts 111 and

  112 of the first frame element 11.

  The second connection module (H-module) 14 is slidably mounted on the two uprights 111 and 112. It also maintains a frame 22, which is also connected to the uprights 121 and 122 by means of two axes 231 and 232 around which he can

swing.

  This frame 22 therefore plays the role of the rods 15 described above. He can by

  elsewhere serve as a support for example to a tablet.

  The second connection module 14 is stopped in the desired position (frame 22 in horizontal position) using a stop 213, which advantageously extends between the

two amounts 111 and 112.

  The chassis also comprises a second frame 24 which can receive a changing tray and / or a bathtub. This frame 24 is mounted articulated on the intermediate part

  123 of the second chassis element, by means of two hinges 251 and 252.

  In the unfolded position, this frame 24 extends in a horizontal upper position. It is held in this position by means of two links 261 and 262, one of the ends of which is pivotally mounted on the upright 121, 122, by means of an axis 271, 272 and the other end of which can slide on the frame 24, by means of a slide 281, 282 which carries an axis around which the end of the link can pivot. A stop 291, 292 is provided, which corresponds to the appropriate position of the frame

24 in the unfolded position.

  It will be noted that, due to the curved shape of the uprights, the links 261 and 262 also play a safety function. They have a neutral point, which prevents

  any untimely tilting of the upper part.

  The bathtub or changing tray 210 can be removable. In the case of

  changing table in particular, it can also be mounted articulated on the frame 24.

  The illustrated changing tray has two holding hoops 2111, 2112 intended to prevent the child from falling, and allowing the carrying of the tray. It is easily and stably positioned on the frame 24 thanks to the presence of studs 212 which come

  in contact with the inside and / or outside of the frame 24.

  Other fixing systems can also be provided. Note also that several pads can be installed, so as to allow the reuse of the changing mat on another object of furniture, such as for example a bed, even if their dimensions are not exactly the same as those of the table to change. We can

  also provide that the position of at least some of the studs is adjustable.

  In the folded position (Figure 2B), the chassis is brought back in one plane. The H 14 connection module slid towards the 7t 13 connection module, along the uprights

  111 and 112. It has driven the lower frame 22, which has pivoted along the axes 231 and 232.

  Initially, the slides 281 and 282 had been brought back to the intermediate part 123, so as to bring the upper frame 24 in the same plane as

  that defined by the uprights 121 and 122, under the action of the rods 261 and 262.

  FIGS. 3A and 3B show the folding frame of a playpen according to the invention. The basic principle of this chassis is very close to that described above for the

changing table.

  We therefore do not re-write all the elements again, but we underline

  only the few particular aspects.

  The lower frame 22 carries the floor 31 of the park. For this reason, this frame is placed lower than that of the changing table. This floor can be secured to the frame

22 by one or more hooks 34.

  The walls of the park (not shown) are conventionally formed by a flexible net, or a similar element, stretched between the lower frame 22 and the upper frame 24. The connecting rods 261 and 262 for holding the upper frame 24 are pivotally mounted on the frame 24 (axes 321 and 322). This frame 24 also serves as a support for the holding arch or the handrail which will be mounted on the park. He could

  also train this handrail itself.

  The slides 281 and 282 are therefore mounted on the uprights 121 and

  122. Similarly, the stops 331 and 332 are then provided on these uprights 121 and 122.

  It is thus shown, between FIGS. 2A and 3A, that the two embodiments are

  possible, whether for one or other of the furniture objects.

  Furthermore, a hook 35 can be provided, which makes it possible to maintain the park in

  folded position, securing the floor to an element of the chassis.

  Figure 3B illustrates the frame of Figure 3A in the folded position. The folding is obtained in the same way as that which has been described in relation to FIG. 2B. Again, we see that the chassis then extends substantially in the same plane, and has

very small footprint.

  Figure 4A shows a high chair according to the invention. Again, we recognize the first chassis element 11 and the second chassis element 12 articulated on the module in ic 13, as well as the module in H 14, sliding on the uprights 111 and 112 and carrying the lower frame 22. In position unfolded, this frame extends substantially horizontally. The H 14 connection module is held in position by a stop

  213 extending between the two uprights 111 and 112.

  An upper frame 41 is also provided. However, unlike the two objects described above, it does not extend at the level of the upper part of the chassis (that is to say at the level of the connecting element 13), but at an intermediate position. This upper frame is in fact provided to hold the seat (not shown) and to receive a tablet (also not shown). It is

advantageously removable.

  This frame 41 is pivotally mounted on an axis 42 connecting the two uprights 111 and 112, and perpendicular to the latter. The elements forming the articulation advantageously comprise two clipped modules 461 and 462 (FIG. 4B), which

  allow the separation of the frame and the chassis.

  It also rests on two lugs 431 and 432 provided for this purpose on the uprights 121 and 122 of the second element of the chassis 12. The position of these lugs 431 and 432 is provided so that when the chair is in the unfolded position, the frame superior

is substantially horizontal.

  Advantageously, provision is also made for a crosspiece 44 extending between the two

  uprights 121 and 122, perpendicular to the latter, at the level of the seat.

  A strap 45 can be placed between the crosspiece 44 and the axis 42 to hold the seat

  in the desired position. The length of this strap can be adjustable.

  The seat can be equipped with various safety and support elements (such as a belt or harness, a booster element, etc.). The seat can advantageously take several successive forms, so as to be adapted to the different ages of a child. For this purpose, the frame 41 can be tilted so as to be

  brought along the first frame member, even when the chair is unfolded.

  Furthermore, the tablet is advantageously removable and designed so as to

  ability to take multiple positions on frame 41.

  Figure 4B illustrates the chair of Figure 4A in the folded position. First of all, the frame 41 was brought to the rear of the assembly, along the first frame element 11, then the connection module 14 was slid towards the connection module 21, so that the frame lower 22 brings the second frame element 12 in the same plane

  as the first frame element 11.

  Figures 5A and 5B show the folding frame of a deckchair according to the invention.

  In this embodiment, the arrangement of the elements is slightly modified, although the construction of the chassis itself remains similar to that already described. Indeed, the chassis has been "tilted" by 90, the first chassis element 11 being

now in the lower position.

  Compared to the objects already described, we see that there is not here the equivalent of the upper frame 21. Indeed, the hammock of the deckchair is directly supported on the second

chassis element 12.

  Furthermore, the lower frame 22 is replaced by a U-shaped part 51, the two parallel branches 511 and 512 of which play the role of the links already described and the intermediate part 513 of which is integral with the H 14 connection module. Advantageously, this intermediate part 513 flows under the first frame element 11. The upper ends of the link elements 511 and 512 carry an element

  (for example, a rigid metal wire) which defines the outline of the seat of the hammock.

  The principle of folding is the same as that described above. The connecting module 14 is moved along the uprights 111 and 112, to bring the second chassis element 12 in the same plane as the first chassis element 11. However, in the case of the deckchair, folding is obtained by moving the link module 14 of the module

  13, as shown in Figure 5B.

  Note also that one can provide several stable positions for the connecting module 14 along the first frame member 11 which correspond to several possible inclinations of the deckchair. Several techniques can be envisaged to define these different positions. An advantageous technique is described in particular in a joint patent application filed in the name of the same Applicant and having the title "Device for adjusting the inclination of a chair for

child, and corresponding chair ".

  In this case, we see that the different inclination positions act independently on the second frame element (which corresponds to the back of the hammock), and on parts 511 and 512, and therefore on the wire 52 (which corresponds to the seat of the hammock). As a result, an opening angle can be obtained between the backrest and

  the variable seat depending on the inclination chosen.

  As indicated above, the invention advantageously makes it possible to reuse the same connection modules for several different chassis. Besides an effect of

  interesting range, this of course allows economies of scale.

  According to an advantageous embodiment, these connection modules are produced in the form of two half-shells, for example made of plastic, which have just

  put in place on the chassis elements before joining them.

  FIG. 6 illustrates the internal structure of a half-shell of the first connection module (module in nt) according to the invention. This module is called an X module because the chassis elements with which it cooperates define approximately

this letter.

  It comprises two openings 61 and 62 allowing the passage of the intermediate part 123 of the second chassis element. Ribs 631 to 636 ensure the correct positioning of the module relative to this intermediate element 123, and therefore a

  adjusted articulation of the two chassis elements.

  Furthermore, it has two other openings 64 and 65, for each of the uprights 111 and 112 of the first frame element 11. These uprights are positioned

  FIG. 7 illustrates the second connection module (H-module) according to the invention.

  This module is called an H module because the chassis elements with which it

  cooperates define approximately this letter.

  It comprises four openings 711, 712, 721, 722 respectively receiving the uprights 111 and 112, and allowing the module to slide in H along the latter. Two other openings 73 and 74 receive part of the lower frame 22 (or of the U-shaped part 51). The H-shaped module is designed so that rotation is possible

  around this part which crosses it.

  As for the module at A, ribs are provided for the

  adequate positioning of the various elements.

  Figure 8 very schematically illustrates the process for manufacturing different

  types of chassis that makes it possible to envisage the chassis structure of the invention.

  According to this method, each part specific to each chassis is produced specifically, for example: - parts specific to the changing table (81); - park-specific rooms (82); - parts specific to the high chair (83); - parts specific to the deckchair (84);

-.

  In addition, the first is made for all of these chassis.

  From these two sources, we can mount each of these frames, then the object

complete (87 to 810).

  This process can also be used by trivializing other aspects than the mere production of the connection modules. Indeed, other parts can be found identically on several elements. Furthermore, the use of the same material

  base (tubes forming the frame) is also possible.

  In addition to the four pieces of furniture described in the invention, it is clear that this technique makes it possible to make other furniture items, such as a folding bed,

dresser,...

  1. Folding frame for childcare furniture object, characterized in that it comprises a first (11) and a second frame element (12), respectively defining a first and a second plane and forming substantially a hinged triangle one of its apices, held in the unfolded position by means of at least one element (15) forming a holding rod, said second frame element (12) having a portion (123) forming a hinge pin, and the first chassis element (11) having two portions (111, 112) parallel to each other and perpendicular to said articulation axis (123), and in that it comprises two connection modules: - a first connection module (13) , said module at A, mounted on said portion (123) of the second frame member forming a hinge pin and receiving one end of each of said parallel portions (111, 112) of the first frame member; and - a second connection module (14), said H-module, perpendicular to said parallel portions (111, 112) of the first frame element, capable of sliding along said parallel portions (111, 112) and carrying one end of   each of said holding elements (15).   2. Folding frame according to claim 1, characterized in that it is intended for at least one of the objects belonging to the group comprising: - playpens for children; - changing tables and / or baths for children; children's beds; - children's chairs, especially high chairs;   - children's chairs of the deckchair type.   3.
