Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a device for filtering the air that a human being inhales through the nostrils when it evolves in a foul atmosphere.
There are several types of masks. Those called "paper" placed on the nose and mouth, they are held by elastic bands but they do not filter fine particles or hydrocarbons. There are also so-called "gas" masks that apply to the face, including the nose, mouth and chin. They filter fine particles and hydrocarbons well but they are not aesthetic because the "coals" are very visible in the middle of the figure, they mark the face and dishevel the user. They do not allow the user to speak clearly with a neighbor. Finally, If the user wants, during a violent physical effort, to breathe in his air more quickly, he must remove his mask because the speed of air filtration is limited by the work of the filters.
The device according to the invention overcomes these drawbacks. According to a first characteristic, it indeed comprises glasses whose branches are hollow and are connected to replaceable filters situated behind each of the user's ears. The hollow branches extend into a hollow body which forms half of the frame on which the lenses are set. The other half of the frame which rests on the nose and which ends the frame of the lenses is not hollow. Said hollow body extends downward, following the shape of the nose, in a conduit to the nostril and ending in a vent matching the outer shape of the nostril. Thus, when the user puts on his special glasses, the vents are pressed naturally and tightly against the nostrils and when he inhales through the two nostrils, the mouth being closed, the air is filtered by the two filters, passes through the glasses hollow and enters the two nostrils through the two vents. It then exhales through the mouth.
According to particular embodiments - the two conduits can communicate with each other under the nose.
The lower part of the glasses which is placed against the nostrils can be made of a more flexible material than that of the glasses.
The branches of the glasses may include an articulation on an axis at the level of the frame.
The branches of the glasses may include a bellows which acts as a tight joint.
- les cavités des lunettes peuvent être, en partie, remplies d'un volume de particules filtrantes.- The cavities of the glasses can be, in part, filled with a volume of filter particles.
- the end of the hollow branches, at the level of the filters, can be extended. to the base of the neck, in a tube of softer material before receiving the filter (s).

With reference to these drawings, the device consists of spectacles, the branches (3) of which are hollow and equipped, at their ends, with replaceable filters (i) provided with inlets for the foul air (2). Each hollow branch (3) is extended into a hollow body (4) which forms half of the frame on which the lenses are set. The other half of the frame (7), resting on the nose, is not hollow. The hollow body (4) extends downward, following the shape of the nose, in a conduit (5), up to the nostril, ending in a vent (6) which is tightly pressed against the nostril.
When the user inhales through the nose, closing the mouth, the stale air enters the filter (1) through the holes (2) and passes through the filter particles of said filter (1). The air comes out purified and enters the punished branches (3) passes through the hollow body (4) then the conduit (5) and leaves through the vents (6) before filling the lungs. The user then exhales through the mouth.
The user can thus breathe in clean air, speak without removing his "mask", and inhale by mouth the quantity of air which he lacks. If he has to make a violent physical effort (a cyolist in town for example). This object being more aesthetic since it reminded a frame of glasses more than a mask. It does not mark the face because of straps.
In the embodiment of FIGS. 3, 4, 5 and 6, the two conduits (5) are connected by a channel (8) allowing filtration by the two filters if one or the other of the nostrils is organically blocked. This channel is equipped with a valve (9) which does not allow air to enter during inspiration but which lets out air charged with carbon dioxide during expiration which allows the user to keep the mouth closed to breathe in and out.
The valve t9) can be attached or else molded directly into the mass.
The lower part of the glasses constituted by the conduits (5), the vents (6) and the channel (8) is made of a more flexible material which is fixed either mechanically or glued in a connection zone (10) which allows to achieve a better seal between the vents (6) and the nostrils by giving more comfort to the user.
The hollow branches (3) are provided with an articulation (71) thanks to an axis (12) which makes it possible to fold the branches (3) to better store the device of the invention.
According to a variant not illustrated, which does not have a channel (8), each conduit (5) is equipped with a valve for expiration.
According to a variant not illustrated, the articulation (11) is produced by a bellows which sealingly connects the hollow branches (3) to the hollow body (4) of the frame.
According to a variant not illustrated, the cavities of the branches (3), of the hollow bodies (4) and of the conduits (5) can be filled with a volume of filter particles which can go so far as to eliminate the presence of the two filters (17. The replacement of the filter particles is done by emptying and then filling the cavities of the frame by the end of the hollow branches (3).
According to a variant not illustrated, the end of the hollow branches (3) can be extended to the base of the neck, in a tube of more flexible material to allow the user to wear a protective helmet. The filter (s) (1) will then be fixed on these extenders outside the protective helmet.
The device according to the invention is particularly intended for filtering the air breathed by a human being confronted with all kinds of atmospheric pollution.
