Abstract

The device for establishment of a dialogue between a vehicle, such as a road tanker, and the fixed location at which it is delivering goods, such as a service station, uses the flexible pipe used for delivery of the liquid as the mechanical support for an electromagnetic communication link. The pipe includes an API coupler and adaptor, and up to three flexible pipe sections for transfer of liquid from the tanker to the service station. Each section of flexible pipe includes a length of coaxial cable mounted within the pipe, leading to a ferrite cored coil at each end. The ferrite cored coil is mounted within the coupler such that it is able to form an electromagnetic link with the next section, and thus form part of a complete link between tanker and service station.
