Abstract

The entry transition couples an electromagnetic source to the test cell, and delivers either an electromagnetic impulse with a rapid rise time (less than 500 pico-second) and an amplitude of 100 kV, or continuous high tension electromagnetic waves. The entry has a tapered metal envelope (1) with a fixing and adaptation plate (6), to connect to the test cell, at its larger end. A divergent plate (4) inside the envelope fixes to the septum of the test cell. A moulded resin lining (3) prevents arcing. A male connector (2) at the narrow end provides connection to the source of high tension electromagnetic waves.
