Abstract

The automobile gear lever has a plastics knob (6a) fitted on the free end portion of a rod (16). The knob is elastically fastened on the rod to ensure its angular positioning and axial immobilisation on the rod. The knob has a cylindrical blind cavity (7a) for receiving the rod end portion. The elastic fastening is constituted by the knob annular end (9a) delimited by the cavity opening and by a circular groove (10a) in the knob. The groove receives a rod collar (11a) which has, on the rod end side, a truncated face (15a) slightly inclined to the rod axis. The knob and the rod are engaged by means of a longitudinal key (8a) fixed to the rod which engages in a complementary axial groove (17) in the knob cavity.
