Abstract

The watering device is designed to water in a localised area and consists of a piece of material (4), which expands in the presence of water. The movement of the piece of material, through expansion or contraction, controls the flow of water to the watering mechanism, by a mechanical procedure. The material is supported within a frame (1), which allows it to move freely in translation between the base (2) of the frame and the end stop (5). The position of the end stop, in the direction of movement, is adjusted by a screw (3), which is fitted into a threaded section at the top of the frame. Between the expansion material and the stop, passes the flexible tube (6), which carries the water supply. As the material expands it constricts the tube, thus reducing the flow.
