Abstract

The gear box breather is provided in the form of a container, of 250 or 500 ml, for example, which has an air inlet pipe, which feeds into the base of the container, and which leads the air, breathed from the gear box, into the container. The air passes through the liquid held in the container, in the form of a mixture of petrol or oil distillates and vegetable oils. The liquid serves to enrich the air with a catalysing vapour.
