Abstract

The invention relates to the production of a high density polyethylene film in tubular form, for masking parts to be protected during painting and cleaning work and the like, whenever it is desirable to provide protection against aggression of various types. The HDPE film obtained by the methods of the invention has the following properties: it is transparent or faintly coloured; it can be manufactured so as to be a few microns thick; it can be cut manually, uniformly and very easily without tools, in a longitudinal and lateral direction; it can be manufactured so as to have different widths; it is stretch-resistant; it retains all types of projections such as paint, ink, soil etc.; it is printable; it can be applied on any substrate, independently of the state of its surface or the position thereof; and several adhesive strips can be provided on either or on both sides thereof, according to the needs of the user, thus avoiding the need for an additional adhesive strip. In addition to the above properties, the film has such properties as to make it suitable for protecting various items, such as in hygiene and food applications.
