Abstract

The inker, for use in a stereotype printing machine, consists of an ink reservoir (1) in the shape of a funnel surrounded by a solvent reservoir (2). The outlet from the funnel forms a duct (4) which slows down the ink flow and can be set at a variable height above the printing plate. The reservoir is surrounded by a tubular scraper with a chamfered edge at one end, and the layer of ink can be controlled by a porous element at the funnel outlet.

Description

Closed inkwell including a solvent compensator.

The invention relates to the field of closed ink fountains comprising an ink tank combined with a solvent tank, and scraping a printing plate-plate.

The object of the present invention is to design a closed inkwell, the concept of which is effective for mixing ink with the compensating solvent, and for its flexibility of use, including the ease of restoration of the edge of the doctor blade.

More specifically, the invention is explained using drawings described chronologically.

Figure 1 is a schematic sectional view showing an ink tank l characterized by its hopper shape surrounded by a solvent tank 2 comprising a filling hole 3. The advantage of the tightening 4 of the ink tank , is to speed up the mixing of ink and solvent, and to improve homogeneity. The contact surface 4 is porous by any means, including by a peripheral distribution of mini-holes. The reservoir block (1,2) comprises a groove 5 provided for the maintenance of an elastic sealing torre.

Figure 2 is a schematic sectional view showing a tube 6 bearing on a plate plate 7. The tube comprises a beveled edge 8 for scraping the plate plate.

Figure 3 is a schematic sectional view showing the reservoir block (1,2) engaged in the doctor blade (6,8), and locked by a screw 9. The space 10, between the reservoir block and the plate plate 7, is low so that the ink spreads out in a flat sheet contained between said plate and a doctor blade (6,8). In addition, through the narrow outlet 4, a separation is established between the reservoir 1 and the ink layer 10. This characteristic offers, concurrently with the porous surface 4, the possibility of carrying out the transfer of solvent through the large surface 11 in contact with the ink sheet in the position of use, unlike the reserve 1. The blo-tanks (1,2) include a cover 12 and a plug 13.

The scraping edge 8 is easily maintained since the tube 6 can be mounted in the mandrel of a lathe, the cutting tool of which will restore straightness to said edge. Obviously, a removable lip can be fitted onto the tube 6 which, in this case, would serve as a support for the scraping lip.

Figure 4 is a schematic view showing: - plate cliché 7; - the scraping tube 6; - A rod 14 engaged between the tube 6 and the head of the screw 9, the rod being retractable in its support 15; - elastic bands, in the form of a round cord 16, are supported by rollers 17, mounted on axes 18, in order to permanently apply the doctor blade (6,8) to the plate 7. By these means, and if necessary, the inkwell can be detached very easily from the plate.

Figure 5 is a schematic view showing in its length the elastic round cord 16 fixed by flanges 19 to the plate plate 7. Additional holes 20 in the tube 6, allow to raise, as necessary, the rollers 17 , in particular during a consequent reduction in the length of the tube after rectifications of the beveled edge 8.

Claims (10)

Claims:  1 - Closed inkwell including a solvent compensator, characterized in that the ink tank (1) is in the form of a hopper surrounded by a solvent tank (2), the outlet of the hopper forming a conduit (4 ) slowing down the flow of ink and thus achieving a separation, adjustable in height, between the reservoir (l) and a plate-plate (7), the ink spreading in a sheet (10) contained between said plate and a doctor blade (6,8), this ply being able to be selectively regenerated into solvent.  2 - Closed inkwell, according to claim 1, characterized in that the doctor blade is a tube (6) comprising a beveled edge (8) at one of its two ends.  3 - Closed inkwell, according to claim 1, characterized in that the reservoir block (1,2) is surrounded by the doctor blade (6,8).  4 - Closed inkwell, according to claim 1, characterized in that the web (io) is contained sealingly by an elastic torre between the reservoir block (1,2) and the doctor blade (6,8).  5 - Closed inkwell, according to claim 1, characterized in that the adjustment of the height of the sheet (10) is stabilized by a screw (9) tightening the tank block (1,2) against the doctor blade (6,8 ).  6 - Closed inkwell, according to claim l, characterized in that the selective regeneration of the ink layer is carried out by a porosity located at the outlet (4) of the hopper (l) containing the ink.  7 - Closed inkwell, according to claim 1, characterized in that the selective regeneration of the ink layer is carried out by a porosity located on the bottom (11) of the solvent tank (2).  8 - Closed inkwell, according to claim 1, characterized in that the doctor blade (6,8) supports rollers (17) by pins (18) in holes (20).  9 - Closed inkwell, according to claim 7, characterized in that the doctor blade (6,8) comprises additional holes (20) for adjusting the height of the position of the rollers (17).  10 - Closed inkwell, according to claims 1 and 8, characterized in that the doctor blade (6,8) is applied to a plate plate (7) by elastic bands (16) supported by rollers (17).
