Abstract

The method involves recording at least two different types of files with different formats on the same recording medium. All the audio data are recorded at the start of the disc and text data in a later part of the disc. The first recording session is entirely audio, using the 44100 Hz and 16 bit stereo standard which can be read by all standard audio CD players. The second recording session is effected from a virtual image of the text files and documents, organised in a hierarchy from a root file. A table of contents indicating the start and finish of each file is recorded at the start of the session. This session records a file that will serve in the last session to record the final state. In a third session the table of contents is transferred to a buffer memory for recording at the end of the third session.

Description

The invention relates to a method for recording digital audio information and texts or documents on a track of non-erasable type recording medium which method makes it possible to record these two types of files in different formats on the same recording medium. .

Such a process already exists. There are indeed compact hybrid discs such as CD-Roms .1lied Mode which contain on the same surface data of different scores and in particular audio data and text or document data.

However. the process used for the recording of such media requires that the text data documents be [located at the start of the track and the audio data afterwards. Readers on an Audio CD player. text and document data generate a crack that endangers the reading device and occupies a space that cannot be used by this reader. Always according to this process. the location at the start of the text and document data track is necessary so that type readers
CD-Rom can read them.

The object of the present invention is a process according to which the audio data readable by standard CD audio playback devices can be positioned before the text recordings and documents readable by CD-Rom players available on the market.

This process therefore aims to make the medium recordable. through the registration process. fully compatible with compact audio disc players as they exist today, as soon as the first track or track is played, and also compatible with compact disc players such as CD-Rom or CD-I depending on the format of the text and document data engraved on the recording medium.

A feature of the invention is characterized in that the method comprises several stages of registration; this is why this process can be said

Another feature of the method is characterized in that your first recording session must be an exclusively audio session. audio files with the forttnat 44100 Hz and 16 Bit Stereo so that they can be played by any standard Audio CD player. This session will be finalized on Audio CD.

The method is also characterized in that the second recording session can be carried out from a virtual image of the text files and documents organized and hierarchized following a root file. A table of contents (TOC) indicating the beginnings and ends of the files in absolute time code is engraved at the start of the session. This session will include an "F" file which will be used for the finalization session of the recording medium.

The process is characterized in that the second session will be finalized on CD-Rom in the mode corresponding to the type of text and document data.

A special feature of the method is characterized in that during the third session, the content of the TOC from the previous session will be loaded into the device's buffer memory and displayed in virtual image in order to erase the file "F" then replace it after the root file as if it were a new content file from the third session.

It can be said that this third session can be followed by other sessions using the same protocol. For the description of the process. this third session will be the last.

The method is characterized in that the TOC loaded in memory will be updated and rewritten at the start of the third session.

The method is also characterized in that this third and last session is used to finalize the recording medium by engraving the end bits of tracks in lead-out session thereon.
