Abstract

Device making it possible to protect the water inside water towers against all atmospheric pollution of nuclear, biological and chemical origin. This device operates automatically and without energy merely by changing the water level in the water towers. It consists of a filter body (1) in which is placed an active-carbon filter (2) through which flows the air (7) automatically drawn in at the time of the water consumption. An air outlet (10) provided with a nonreturn delivery valve (11) operates automatically at the time when the water tower is being filled and by virtue of the nonreturn valve (8) situated at the filter outlet (2). For operation during a period when there is no pollution an aeration (13) operating freely is provided, but is equipped with a valve (15) for enabling the filtration to be stopped or brought into service.

Description

Chimiques (N.B.C).
The present invention relates to a device for protecting the potability of water from water towers, at the time of nuclear, biological fallout,
Chemical (NBC).

Water towers are currently equipped with simple vents which are not equipped with any system allowing the anti-contamination of water during the passage of a cloud N.B.C. Such contamination would necessarily occur through current vents, when the outside air is sucked in by drawing water from the taps by users. Their lives would be compromised.

The device according to the invention makes it possible to use the tap strip without any risk, despite any atmospheric pollution. It is easily installed, directly or by reduction, on water towers in place of current vents. In times of pollution, this device works automatically: on suction by drawing water by users; at the discharge, without ironing in the special anti-N.B.C filter, by filling the water tower. The device includes, to avoid unnecessary consumption of the filter during non-polluted periods, free operation: suction-discharge, with manually or electronically controlled shut-off valve which enables filtration to be switched on or off.

The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention:
Figure 1 shows, in longitudinal section, the device according to the invention.

La figure 2 représente la vue de dessus.Figure 2 shows the top view.

With reference to these drawings, the device comprises: a removable filter body (1) to allow the replacement of the filter cartridge (2) with activated carbon, a condensation pot (3) in the passage of the air intake (4 ) protected at its entry by a prefilter (5) to prevent penetration of insects and others. A seal (6) is provided between the filter body (1) and the filter cartridge (2) to ensure uniform and perfect filtration of the intake air (7). After passing through the activated carbon filter (2) the sucked air (7) passes through a non-return valve (8) before going inside the water tower (9).

To avoid overpressure inside the water tower (9), the overflow of air is evacuated through the outlet (10) equipped with a non-return discharge valve (11), and a filter (12) to avoid insect penetration.

For normal ventilation in periods of non-atmospheric contamination, a ventilation (13) with free operation in both directions: suction suction, with an insect filter (14) is provided. This ventilation (13) is equipped with a valve (15) with manual or electric control allowing at will, the starting or stopping of the filtration.

The protected ventilation device is installed directly in place of (16), with or without reduction, the conventional vents currently used.
