A l'heure actuelle, pour fabriquer une carte intelligente munie d'un microcircuit, on réalise tout d'abord un programme de gestion contenant toutes les instructions nécessaires pour gérer le fonctionnement du micro-circuit, on implante ensuite le programme de gestion dans le micro-circuit par une opération de fonderie, puis l'on fixe le micro-circuit sur un corps de carte, et l'on personnalise la carte en enregistrant par exemple les données permettant d'identifier cette dernière ainsi que son futur porteur. La présente invention se propose plus particulièrement de remédier à cet inconvénient et, pour ce faire, elle a pour objet un procédé de fabrication d'une carte intelligente comportant un micro-circuit ayant au moins une mémoire inscriptible, qui se caractérise en ce qu'il consiste à réaliser un programme de chargement contenant le minimum d'instructions aptes à rendre ultérieurement intelligent le micro-circuit, à implanter le programme de chargement dans le micro-circuit par une opération de fonderie, à fixer sur un corps de carte le micro-circuit programmé, à réaliser un programme de gestion contenant des instructions aptes à gérer le fonctionnement du micro-circuit, à charger le programme de gestion dans la mémoire inscriptible du micro-circuit, à déconnecter le programme de chargement afin de faire fonctionner le microcircuit sur son programme de gestion, et à personnaliser la carte.
