Abstract

The system for lighting a marker beacon consists of two terminals (7, 8), arranged at the ends of an electrical circuit which includes a battery (5) and at least one light-emitting diode (6). The two terminals (7 and 8) are normally isolated from one another and connected by the aqueous medium when the beacon falls into this aqueous medium. According to the invention, this lighting system includes, between the said terminals (7, 8), means which make it possible to improve the conductivity of the aqueous medium and to keep the circuit in the closed state, even when the beacon is taken out of this aqueous medium. The means in question advantageously consist of a spongy material (11) impregnated with an agent which enhances the conductivity of the aqueous medium, such as salt, housed in a cavity (10) which encloses and protects the terminals (7, 8). This cavity (10) includes at least one opening (12) to allow the aqueous medium to pass.
