Abstract

The subject of the present invention is a device for protecting an occupant of a vehicle in the event of impact, which device includes inflatable elements (3) combined with inflation means (4) and an impact detector (5). According to the invention, the inflatable elements (3) form part of an article of clothing (2) intended to be worn by the occupant of the vehicle. This device includes electrical supply means (6, 7) incorporated in the article of clothing (2) and control means for the inflation means (4), which comprise a first part (12) carried by the vehicle and actuated by the impact detector (5) and a second part (11), physically independent from the first, and incorporated with the article of clothing (2).
