Abstract

Multi-channel telephone remote control device using a telephone with multi-frequency dialling (DTMF) as an information source. The invention relates to a device making it possible to control a minimum of four electrical appliances from the keyboard of any telephone instrument using DTMF coding. This device consists of a decoding box linked to a distribution unit to which the controlled appliances are connected.

Description

 The present invention thanks to the decoding of a code composed directly on the keypad of a telephone with DTMF dialing, authorizes via the telephone network, the control of any electrical device whose consumption does not exceed nas 1500 W.

 The user dials on a public or private telephone the call number leading to the device. After about thirty seconds, the operator automatically picks up and keeps the line for the same time. It is during this period that the user dials the code corresponding to the order placed, directly on the keyboard.

Key 1 corresponds to channel 1, key 2 to channel 2 and so on for the other keys. Key 9 corresponds to all the channels.

The 0 key is not used.

Once the channel has been chosen, the function remains to be selected.

The star key (*) corresponds to the "On" function and the hash key (#) corresponds to the "Stop" function.

It is therefore the consecutive pressing of one or more channel keys, then of a function key which determines the order given.

A particular tone emitted by the device on the telephone line, for approximately two seconds, guarantees the validity of the order given.

High tone = a run order has just been placed
Low tone = a stop order has just entered
If a channel key is pressed without being followed by a function key1 no tone will be emitted.

The order having been placed, the user can then hang up.

In the case of using a telephone with decimal dialing the use of the device remains possible by applying a DTMF coder on the microphone of the handset. The result is then identical, the coding being done by acoustic coupling.

The user once returned to the place of operation of the device, can modify the orders received, using his own telephone, after pressing the line take-up button on the device.

It can remain permanently connected without interfering with normal telephone communications.

Four options are provided to adapt to demand, in the form of additional cards - "CODE" option
A two- or three-digit code authorizes access to the decoding system and prohibits any foreign person from modifying orders placed.

- "WIRELESS" option HF transmitter transmits orders received t from individual boxes connected to the sector, at the rate of one box per channel.

This option eliminates the obligation to connect the devices to the distribution block.

- "LOCAL" option
This card allows the device to be controlled locally without pressing the line take-up button. You just need to pick up the court handset to be able to place an order.

-Option "EIGHT CHANNELS"
The base mode being with four channels, this card doubles the cited command channel.

The discosive comprises two parts, as illustrated in FIG. 1: -A decoding box (i) connected to the telephone network by a pull-out socket (2) and to the sector, by a standardized socket with earth socket.

-A distribution block (4) connected to the decoding box by a multi-conductor electric cable. It is on this block that the controlled devices are connected.

The front face of the decoding box (1) groups together the different control means.

-An "On / Off" switch (5a) doubled with an indicator light (5b) -A line socket push-button (6a) allow control of the decoding box at home, also doubled with an indicator light (6b) -Four LEDs (7) are used to find out the status of the distribution block sockets.

The electronics of the decoding box is modular, as shown in Figure 2.
