Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a strain gauge intended to correct the parasitic effects due to creep of the sensors generally, but not exclusively, used in weighing devices. Indeed, creep is one of the parameters to be controlled in the use of a strain gauge. The sensors are generally produced in the form of resistances in film frames etched on a substrate, in a known manner. These resistances are given various forms in order to obtain a finished product close to perfection. In particular, resistances are formed by arranging zig zag strands with loops at the ends. The variation of the height of the loop allows a sliding of the strands in the more or less large time. When one wants to obtain a creep close to zero, one must determine the adequate height of loop. This is obtained by many tests, each time requiring the replacement of the gauges with new ones.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks and proposes strain gauges which are easy to calibrate.
The strain gauges according to the invention are characterized in that they include loops whose heights are staggered and several exit points.
The invention will be better understood on reading the following description of a preferred embodiment and on examining the appended drawing in which there is shown, in plan, a gauge, the configuration of which is shown, by way of example, may be different without departing from the scope of the present invention.
The gauge shown which can be manufactured by any known means is constituted by strands (1) arranged in a zig-zag, connected between them by loops (2) or pads, of much greater width. The strands (1) are in the example shown, divided into three sections 10-20-30.
Each section is located between two AB-BC-CD outputs. Furthermore, the loops (2) of each section have a height double H compared to that of the previous section. The gauge according to the invention therefore comprises four outputs A.B.C.D and three different heights of loops, this height doubling between each output. This embodiment allows the gauge to be used in two different modes, each mode allowing three combinations, namely: (A-B) (B-C) (C-D) or (A-C) (B-D) For (A-D) I1 must connect B to C; in the latter case, the resistance of the gauge will have doubled its otmic value. This example is not limiting as regards the number of outlets and the height of the loops (2); the height of the loops (2) can be different at each end of a section of strands in order to obtain an asymmetrical configuration.
Generally, one sticks four gauges (WHEATSTONE Bridge) on a test body, which allows to multiply all the combinations.
The invention clearly shows the economy obtained in the development of a sensor.
During tests, the measurements made on the sensors at different temperatures, for example - 10 C and + 40 C, we could see that the creep was different.
The gauge according to the invention makes it possible to reduce the deviations from extreme temperatures by refocusing, thus making it possible to enter the tolerances that have been set.
In addition, if you use this type of gauge on the sensors in series, it is always possible to make a precise adjustment of the creep, even if certain parameters changed when the gauge was stuck on the test body.
