Abstract
Description
This process can be used in particular to make luminaires, or decorative objects whether or not luminous, furniture (tables, etc.) with luminous or non-luminous panels in order to decorate floors, ceilings or walls, or any other object of all dimensions (advertising paperweight ...) the techniques used previously did not allow large amounts of resin to be used in a single pour for very violent reaction problems during polymerization (very high temperature, cracking of the resin etc ...)
The solution provided by this invention consists on the one hand in the dosing of reactive products such as the accelerator and the catalyst, and especially in the choice of materials constituting a filler brought to the resin at the time of casting in the mold. application to the luminaire, this charge will essentially consist of crushed glass, the proportion of which will vary according to the calibration of this glass and the transparency to be obtained.
If the transparent aspect is not useful, this filler can be made up of mineral matter such as sand, silica or other. The choice and dosage of the dyes used also help to control the intensity of the polymerization reaction and also to give a final translucent or opaque appearance. The molds used are of several types.
I - the polyester laminate, previously coated with a layer of mold release wax and after drying thereof, with a layer of Gelcoat, intended to ensure complete coating of the part to be cast, both thin and resistant.
2 - the cast aluminum mold used especially for large series, it does not require any release agent and also offers better heat dissipation during the polymerization of the resin and a better surface finish of the part produced.
3 - the silicone elastomer mold, offering the special possibility of being able to reproduce very complex shapes with very high reliability.
4 - other materials can be used as required, for example: glass, wood, polyQth # lene etc.
The implementation of the molding is as follows
10) spreading of a layer of demolding wax if necessary depending on the type of mold, then drying.
20) cover the inside of the mold with a thin layer of polyester gelcoat and wait for complete hardening.
For the application to the luminaire, a central cavity will be created at the time of filling the mold with crushed glass, by a clamp made of silicone elastomer incorporated in the center of the mold, and will aim, after demolding, to accommodate an electric bulb , preferably fluorescent.
40) pour the mixture: polyester resin of inclusion, accelerator, dye, catalyst, in the proportions calculated according to the volume, then wait for complete polymerization.
5 ) démoulage par ouverture du moule. 5) demolding by opening the mold.
6 ) ponçage. 6) sanding.
7 ) vernissage. 7) varnishing.
