Abstract
Description
The technical sector of the present invention is that of riflescopes, associated or not with a fire control, and in particular means making it possible to display fire corrections or a particular symbology.
The aiming direction depends on a large number of parameters such as the distance from the target, wind speed, altitude, temperature, type of ammunition, etc.
On connaît différents systèmes de conduite de tir. Various fire control systems are known.
A fire control system includes a rifle scope which can be a mask scope, or an episcopic scope. The generally accepted principle lies in the calculation of a aiming difference between the weapon and the direct aiming according to all the shooting parameters, according to which a shift is made between the line of sight and the axis of the barrel so that the projectile reaches its target.
This shift in aiming can take place in several ways
- either by moving the landscape image relative to the fixed sight reticle in the telescope,
- either by moving the aiming reticle relative to the optical axis of the telescope and therefore relative to the landscape observed.
The first type of fire line consists of a deflecting optical element placed in front of the telescope comprising the shooting reticle. These deflecting elements being mainly of two types
- motorized diasporameters in the case of mask glasses,
- site and site-controlled mirrors for episcopic glasses.
These two solutions are very complex and therefore a major blow.
The second type of fire lines consist of a system materializing the aiming axis, placed or projected in the sighting scope, and making it possible to display the shooting corrections. These systems can be of several types
- either a micrometer engraved with a reticle, and moreover indications of increases in shooting for one or more ammunition. It is then enough to point the target at the line of increase corresponding to the distance indicated by the telemetry. This simple and inexpensive system does not allow all shooting parameters to be taken into account,
- or a micrometer engraved with a simple reticle, subject to site, see in deposit. We can then have, in the case of a micrometer placed in the focal plane of the telescope, a servo linearly moving the micrometer in this plane. Another solution consists, in the case of a reticle projected upstream of the telescope, to perform a deviation from this axis is targeted by the servo in rotation of return prisms,
- either the image of the screen of a micromonitor projected upstream, or in the focal plane of the telescope (what are the known documents). We can then display all kinds of symbologies as well as make fire corrections by moving the reticle electronically. The disadvantage of this system lies in the low contrast of the tube screens and inseparability of the lighting from the display. A reticle thus generated, projected over the landscape image, is barely discernible in certain configurations (high luminance).
The object of the present invention is therefore to propose a telescopic sight in which the means making it possible to display and illuminate sight marks are distinct.
The subject of the invention is therefore a telescopic sight for a combat vehicle associated with a fire control line, characterized in that it comprises a liquid crystal screen intended to generate a reticle which can be electronically addressable in elevation and in bearing.
The screen is a 50 pin pixel matrix.
The screen is lit by a light-emitting diode, the screen image being projected along the line of sight by a collimation objective and a reflective plate.
The screen is connected to a row and column control circuit.
An advantage of the present invention lies in the fact that it is possible to modulate the luminance of the projected symbology throughout the range of variations in luminance of the day / night interval.
Another advantage lies in the use of a low-cost screen which makes it possible to easily project symbologies of all types as well as alphanumeric characters.
The projection of this information in the telescope, either upstream or on the focal plane, is carried out using conventional collimation optics, placed between the liquid crystal screen and the telescope, and by placing a system of lighting behind the screen.
This lighting system includes a condenser and the light source itself. It is indeed, the transmission lighting (the crystals in the "on" state not having the same density as in the "off" state) which makes it possible to obtain a very good contrast by dimensioning the light source.
Decoupling the display function (liquid crystal screen) from the lighting function allows great freedom in choosing a light source.
Another aspect of the present invention lies in the choice of this light source. We are led, in the use of a telescope, to make pointing on highly lit areas (portion of sky, snow ...) requiring a very powerful reticle lighting to obtain sufficient contrast.
We are then forced to use incandescent lamps of high power, 20 to 50 W, releasing a lot of calories, which is often incompatible with an optical system.
Another advantage also lies in the possible use of light-emitting diodes combining low consumption with high light intensity as well as high reliability.
Other advantages of the invention will be better understood on reading the additional description given below in relation to a drawing in which
FIG. 1 is an overall diagram of the telescope,
- Figure 2 illustrates the mounting of the screen.
There is shown in Figure 1 an embodiment of the scope according to the invention which comprises a body 1 of the scope defining a line of sight 2, a blade 3 transmitting the visible and reflecting the radiation in the wavelength emitted by a light-emitting diode 4.
The radiation emitted by this diode is projected by the collimation objective 5 on the plate 3. your diode 4 lights up a screen 6 via a condenser 7. The use of high luminance diodes currently available on the market avoids the disadvantages associated with the use of conventional incandescent lamps (large size, high power consumption and heating of the lamp).
The screen 6 is connected to electronic means 8 which ensure control of the marks along the lines and the columns. To this end, Figure 2 shows that the screen is divided into rows and columns, each row or column being controlled by the circuit 9. The latter is secured to a plug 10 ensuring the positioning of the screen 6 relative to to the frame 11. This frame is embedded in a frame 12. Flexible circuits 13 make it possible to connect the control circuit 9 of the vehicle fire computer.
The use of the liquid crystal screen ensures the shooting by bringing the aiming reticle on the target. It follows that it is no longer necessary to have a precise mechanical reference relative to the support of the telescope. In addition, the telescope has no moving parts requiring precise adjustment and periodic adjustment.
An alphanumeric display can be placed under the screen to display various information useful to the shooter.
- tir.The firing sequence includes the following phases
- target pointing and telemetry,
- taking into account by the computer of the various firing parameters and display on the screen (type of ammunition, distance from the target, wind speed, etc.),
- addressing the reticle according to the shooting corrections,
- repointing the target in its new position,
- shoot.
You can use a screen with the following characteristics
- pixel size: 50 X 50 pm,
- opaque screen width: 20 µm,
- number of lines: 151,
- number of columns: 177.
