C'est une méthode "barrière", d'accès facile, démédicalisée et sans danger dans le cas d'affections contre-indiquant à la femme la prise de la pilule ou le port du stérilet. C'est un moyen de contraception écologique sous la dépendance de la femme, c'est à dire une méthode naturelle et épisodique à la différence des méthodes continues et médicales (stérilets, pilule).
