Abstract

The invention relates to a method for improving the transportation of liquids or gases in pipelines by coating the internal walls with a wax. The waxy coating reduces the friction of the liquid on the wall, improves sealing and reduces possible reactions of a chemical nature between the liquid and the wall.

Description

The present invention relates to an interior coating of pipelines for transporting liquids or gases. Liquids are generally transported in steel pipes with an internal coating of cement or zinc (galvanization), cement, thermoplastic material, cast iron, baked earth, etc. The transport of the liquid generates friction on the walls, called in some cases pressure drop; this friction leads to increasing the slope of the pipes using gravity for the transport of liquids, or to increasing the power of the pressurizing pumps of liquids or gases for transport using this means of displacement.

It is sometimes difficult to increase the slope of gravity pipes, if the ground has a longitudinal profile which does not lend itself to it.

On the other hand, the materials constituting these pipes can be more or less permeable to liquids or gases, which can have a double effect of loss of liquid or gas and risk of clouding or pollution of the environment surrounding the pipe.

Finally, the liquids or gases transported can have a chemical reaction with the material constituting the pipeline, which can transform the properties of the liquid such as for example the taste, for food liquids it is therefore interesting both technically and economically to coat the inside of the pipes with a product reducing the friction of the liquid on the walls, and / or reducing their perm #ability-, and / or reducing the risk of chemical reaction between 1- iiqi # i of or the gas and the pre-invented wall T s consists in coating the internal walls of the pipes with a solid alkane having a number of carbon atoms greater than 15 called "paraffin" or "wax" - Indeed, paraffins decrease in most cases the rubbing liquids on the walls, creating a smooth film of material; moreover, these products being fairly hydrophobic, they reduce the wettability of the wall and increase its impermeability, even for gases. Furthermore, the paraffins being of an inert nature, they considerably reduce the risks of oxidation or of a chemical reaction. liquids or gases in contact with the pipe material. The implementation of these paraffinic alkanes on the walls can be done using a paraffin emulsion, or the product previously heated, melted and spread or by rubbing the paraffin on the walls.

An exemplary embodiment consists of a concrete pipe, the face of which is covered in contact with the paraffin emulsion liquid. After rupture of the emulsion, the continuous film of paraffin decreases the friction of the liquid, and largely avoids the possible chemical reaction of the liquid with the concrete wall.

The application of the invention is possible in all fields of activity using the pipeline of a liquid for its transport, such as pipelines for residential wastewater, rainwater, drinking water, water descending from a dam for the production of electricity, irrigation water, lubricating or food oil, wine, gas, petroleum, milk and more generally any liquid to be transported industrially
