Abstract

The invention relates more particularly to hip prostheses which are to be fixed without cement. The hip prosthesis according to the invention is of the type comprising a shaft 1 intended to be introduced into the medullary cavity of the femur, and a lateralised neck 2 receiving a cup directly or attached thereon, the shaft 1 having at the level of its metaphyseal part at least one layer of a biological material 3 capable of improving the contact with the bone for achieving a better anchoring without cement.

Plus particulièrement l'invention concerne les prothèses de hanche devant être fixées sans ciment. More particularly the invention relates to hip prostheses to be fixed without cement.

Un des problèmes rencontrés avec ce type de prothèses est de pouvoir assurer une fixation sure et efficace de l'implant dans le canal médullaire du fémur en réduisant tous risques de descellement dans le temps. La plupart des solutions connues ne donnent pas entière satisfaction, car elles ne tiennent pas compte des variations dimensionnelles du fémur en fonction de chaque individu, et cela malgré le fait qu'il existe plusieurs tailles de prothèses pour justement tenter de combler de tels écarts dimensionnels.
