Abstract

The invention relates to a device for tensioning cables, the mechanism being protected against falling water and consequently against rust due to the electrolysis which is promoted by sea water. It consists of a blind nut with a right-hand screw thread 1 including a cable-fixing system 8, of a screw nut 2 with a right-hand thread for the screw and a left-hand thread for the nut, of a screw 5 with a left-hand thread including a system for fixing to an anchoring point (deck of a sailing boat), of two nuts 3 and 4 allowing the assembly to be locked rotationally. The rotation of the screw-nut 2 after immobilisation of the nut 1 and of the screw 5 makes it possible to change the separation between the nut 1 and the screw 5. Since the two nuts 1 and 2 point downwards, they are protected from falling water. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for tensioning the cables of sailing boats.
