Abstract

Many taxi drivers are assaulted. It is necessary to protect them. The present invention relates to a novel design of a "taxi" vehicle providing safety for the driver and transporting the passengers in complete safety giving them the possibility of telephoning, continuing with their work and eating. The vehicle which can most easily receive all these modifications will be of the "Renault Espace" type. The vehicle will be equipped with a partition or window separating the driver from the passengers, with an interphone, with a meter (for mileage), and with a radio link to base and to an emergency station, and, according to the invention, it will include the following modifications: - a system for locking the rear doors - a control for opening the rear doors, which may be actuated: - by the driver, - by the customer (fare) with the aid of a magnetic card on the right-hand rear door - a telephone which the customer (fare) can use - a dispenser for meals, beverages, cigarettes - a trip total meter (CTC (TTM)) giving the total expenditure on mileage, telephone and food.

The present invention relates to the new design of a "TAXI" vehicle, ensuring the driver's safety and transporting passengers in complete safety by offering them the possibility of telephoning, continuing their activity and eating out.
The vehicle that can most easily accommodate all these adaptations will be of the "Renault Espace" type.
The vehicle being equipped with a partition or a glass separating the driver from the passengers, an intercom, an odometer, a radio link with a steering PC and an alert PC, according to the invention, it will include the following adaptations:
- a rear door locking system
- a rear door opening control which can
be activated
- by the driver
- by the customer, using a magnetic card
on the right rear door
- a telephone usable by the customer
- a distributor of meals, drinks, cigarettes
- a total trip counter (CTC) giving
the amount of mileage, telephone expenses
and catering.

The use of these various elements making up this invention will be described by taking the chronology of a race.

 The TAXI being stopped by a passenger, the rear door will be opened using his magnetic card (credit card or special TAXI card similar to that used for telephone communications).

 When the passenger (or passengers) is installed in the rear part of the vehicle, the door safety devices will be locked by the driver.

 The passenger will then insert his magnetic card in the C.T.C.

He will have access
- on the intercom, to give the place of his destination
- on the phone
- to the distributor of meals, drinks and cigarettes.

The odometer will start
At the end of the race, the CTC will give the total cost of the race.

When using a credit card; a receipt will be given to the customer
If using a TAXI card, if the amount of the trip is greater than the credit remaining on the card, the supplement will be obtained by introducing a second card to exhaust the debt
The card will then be returned to the customer
The driver, alerted by a warning light indicating full payment for the trip, will unlock the rear door.

The driver is really safe because:
- he is no longer in contact with the passengers, but he can
see them
- he no longer handles money
- he can communicate by radio with his PC or the alert PC
- he controls the safety of door closings
- the passenger who does not want to adjust his journey cannot
leave the vehicle
- in the event of an accident, passengers can leave the
vehicle (mechanical safety system).

This vehicle will ensure driver safety, security, well-being, catering for passengers in an interior comfort that could be most luxurious.
It will also be a primary advertising medium.

For taxis of a type other than that of the Renault Espace; the CTC can be positioned at the location of the right front seat. A quick mounting system will be implemented
All these adaptations can be more or less made according to the needs of the taxi driver
