EMERGENCY TOOL
The present invention relates to a rescue tool intended in particular, but not exclusively, for emergency interventions.

We know that in the event of a fire or accident, it is often necessary to force doors, windows or partitions, cut an electrical network, or destroy pipes, for example by flattening a pipe. gas. To this end, a service provider is obliged to provide themselves with various tools such as pliers (lever, one end of which is turned at the presser foot), hammer, nail puller, ax, etc. These tools commonly reach a high weight, of the order of 12 to 13 kg, which stands in the way of rapid and efficient maneuvering.

The present invention relates to a light and handy tool for performing various operations such as those mentioned above.

According to the present invention, the emergency tool of the type comprising a handle and an ax secured to one of the ends of the handle, is characterized in that the rear end of the ax forms, on the side opposite to the handle, a head hammer while, at the second end of the handle, there is provided a tongue extending in a direction perpendicular to the median plane of the ax.

Thus, the worker has a compact and handy tool that allows him to perform various rapid operations in the event of an emergency.

In the single figure, it can be seen that the tool is generally in the form of an ax. It includes a handle 1 in which a support 2 of hardened steel is riveted, from which extends the iron 3 of the ax. The iron 3 is extended backwards by a hammer 4. Between these two members is drilled a hole 5 intended to allow the attachment of the tool. Nail pullers 6 and 7 are arranged in the upper part of the tool.

In the opposite part of the handle 1 is mounted, in a support 8 a tongue 9 forming a crowbar. The tongue 9, slightly curved, extends in a direction perpendicular to the median plane of the iron constituting the ax 3 and the hammer 4. It is thus possible to rest on the iron 3, 4, and to use the handle 1 as lever for separating two assembled parts after insertion of this tab and, for example, separating an opening frame from a standing frame. Thus, the short length of the lever constituted by the handle of the ax is compensated by the good bearing surface that the iron gives.

The handle 1 is itself constituted by a hollow tube with a substantially oval section, preferably of light alloy, allowing good grip and coated with a rubber sleeve 12 which, on the one hand ensures a good grip of the tool and, on the other hand, constitutes a good insulation with respect to heat and electricity, the iron 3, 4, and the tongue 9 being secured to the handle 1 by friction and riveting.

Finally a wrist strap 10 is fixed on a ring 11 of the handle 1, integral with the upper part of the sleeve 12 * This wrist strap, which is threaded around a wrist of the speaker, constitutes a flexible link allowing to work with the part of the tool head while avoiding any possibility of it falling. The user can thus have his tool at any time, without risk of losing it, under often difficult conditions.

A prototype actually produced weighs approximately 1 kg, which compares favorably to the 12 to 13 kg of tools that were previously required.

The tool which has just been described, allowing forcing and releasing, thus presents, with a reduced weight and size, the possibility of engaging in operations which are usually reprehensible, but which are justified, in the event of an emergency when 'rapid intervention is necessary to prevent greater dangers. One can in particular force a door or a window, crush a water or gas pipeline, mechanically cut a power supply line, etc.

Of course, such a tool is particularly intended for firefighters, but it can also be advantageously used by different trades such as carpenters, pontonniers, etc.

 It goes without saying that many variants can be introduced, in particular by substitution of technically equivalent means without departing from the scope of the invention.
