Abstract

The present invention relates to a lighting device, fitted with a discharge lamp and producing a "sub-ceiling" effect. It consists of a body C containing: a duct TU fitted with its ceiling-mounting system, the electrical equipment and a socket D holding the lamp L, as well as a reflector R. A surface S, which diffuses by reflection, is fixed to the body C and supports a trough V whose sides T are translucent, and whose base consists of a grille G. The lamp L slightly protrudes from the surface S. Most of the light emitted is directed downwards by the reflector R, whilst the rest of the light is diffused around the lamp unit through T, thus illuminating the surface S. The lamp unit according to the invention is more particularly intended for lighting "hypermarkets".
