Abstract

Device for braking and stopping the rotor, with a flywheel, of an air-driven dental handpiece, as well as for lubricating it, illuminating it and disinfecting it. The invention relates to a device making it possible to brake and to stop the rotor of a dental handpiece, in order to avoid injury to the patient during accidental and unforeseen movements. It consists of a rotor 1 carrying a flywheel 2, on which there bears, at rest, a brake block 3 immobilised by a mechanism 4. When the mechanism 4 withdraws the brake block 3, the rotor 1 is free, and can rotate. The mechanism 4 carries within it the elements for performing the other auxiliary functions (lubrication, electricity production, disinfection). The device according to the invention is in particular intended for stopping the rotor of an air-driven dental handpiece, as well as lubricating it, illuminating it and disinfecting it.
